Kick It With Katie: A Soccer Podcast
03/10/25 • 26 min
Step onto the sidelines with Katie Koelliker and Cari Gonzalez in the debut episode of Soccer Moms Unfiltered, where two passionate sports moms from opposite corners of the country unite to create a community for parents navigating the wild world of youth sports.
Katie brings her perspective as a former soccer player, current coach, and mother of five soccer-playing kids from Utah, while Cari shares her journey from soccer-indifferent to running a 60,000+ follower Instagram community as a soccer and cheer mom in Miami. Their contrasting backgrounds create a rich foundation for discussions that will resonate with sports parents everywhere.
Despite the name, this podcast welcomes parents from all sports – soccer, basketball, baseball, dance, cheer, and beyond. The hosts are building a space where the good, bad, and sometimes ugly realities of sports parenting can be shared without judgment. From sideline drama (like the shocking story of a parent assaulting a teenage player) to heartwarming moments of community support, Katie and Cari are ready to tackle it all with honesty and humor.
The episode concludes with a call for listeners to submit their own "sideline shenanigan" stories and suggestions for future topics. The hosts promise to bring in relevant experts like coaches, sports psychologists, and nutritionists to address listener questions. Whether you're seeking advice, community, or just reassurance that you're not alone in the chaos of youth sports parenting, this podcast delivers with authenticity and heart.

Amy Schweizer, Tiny Troops Soccer
Kick It With Katie: A Soccer Podcast
04/24/24 • 57 min
In today's episode, I speak with one of the Tiny Soccer Troops founders, Amy Schweizer. She shares her soccer experiences growing up and then how becoming part of a military family had an impact on her love of the game and how she was able to stay involved in soccer.
In 2014, founder Amy Schweizer was living in Okinawa, Japan and finding it difficult to find activities for children under 5 years old. Combining her love of soccer with her passion for military spouses, Amy’s vision to create an experience for the under 5 crowd became a reality and eventually became Tiny Troops Soccer, with locations throughout the United States. Tiny Troops is an introduction to the world of soccer for children ages 2-4 and is run by military spouses and parents, giving military spouses the opportunity to work as well as providing a fun activity for toddlers and their friends. More importantly, it’s focused on giving young children the opportunity to form lifelong friendships and creating a community for military parents and their kids. To date, Tiny Troops has served over 20,000 military children and their friends as well as provided employment for over 500 military spouses and dependents. Now, that’s what we call a win-win!
To find out if there’s a location near you, check out their website (link this: https://tinytroopssoccer.com/ ). Love soccer and looking to find a way to bring it to your area? Find out how to join (link this: https://tinytroopssoccer.com/join-our-team/ ) the Tiny Troops team!
