Junk Food Dinner - JFD645: Convoy, The Fog, Plaga Zombie: Zona Mutante

JFD645: Convoy, The Fog, Plaga Zombie: Zona Mutante

Junk Food Dinner
This week: the standard JFD lineup is back to review a trio of non-standard flicks selected by the standard-bearers of good taste (our Patreon donors)!
Up first! Audiences agree, Sam Peckinpah sure is good at smashing up mack trucks. It's the stick-it-to-the-man classic Convoy (from 1978, as all trucker movies are)! It's the classic tale of some tough-ass truckers hitting the road and outsmarting the coppers, all while passing by classic A&W Root Beer stands. Thanks Eamon for picking it!
Next up! We head on over to the California coastline with John Carpenter and The Fog, (from 1980). It's the one where a fog rolls up on a lighthouse, and there may or may not be pirate ghosts underneath it. Thanks Mickey for picking it!
Finally! Of course, it's 2001's Plaga Zombie: Zona Mutante, because we love neon orange colored zombies, especially Argentinian ones. Thanks Steve M for picking it!
All this plus the international toilet report, respecting the Japanese tourists of this podcast, soggy boatsmen, cb radio daze, nerd news and even more! Recorded live-to-tape on National Cranberry Relish Day, 2022!!

JFD646: RRR, Vortex, Brian and Charles

As the year winds down we take a look at three very different foreign films from 2022 that we've heard were worth our attention. Are they? Tune in and find out! Up first, we take a look at Bollywood's top film of 2022, RRR, about a duo of freedom fighters who have to rescue a young girl and defeat the British rule, all while performing over-the-top stunts and a few musical numbers as well. Next, Gaspar Noe examines the lives of an elderly couple as they struggle with aging and eventually death in the somber split-screen drama Vortex. And finally, a solitary Welsh man builds a robot to keep him company in the quirky indie British comedy Brian and Charles. All this plus, solidarity for Sean and his toilet troubles, Thanksgiving recaps, Parker goes to a spooky circus, we pay our respects to Albert Pyun, found prison porno, expensive 4K releases and much more!
