Words Have Power

Jumpstart With Jeff

Do you believe that words have power? There’s a Japanese businessman who believes that human consciousness can affect the molecular structure of water. Dr. Buske knows that words can be progressive and positive, or depressing and demeaning. While building his new waterfront dream home, Dr. Buske decided to write words of affirmation on the foundation in different rooms. He wrote ‘fun’ in the living room, ‘connection’ in the dining room, and ‘creation’ in his office. Even when those words eventually get covered up, Dr. Buske believes just knowing they’re there will bring power. So, consider the words you use when talking to your spouse, your children, or even yourself. Challenge yourself to use positive words for the next week and then reflect back on how it’s impacted your experience.

Faster & Faster & Faster

Since turning 50, Dr. Buske has been feeling like life is going by faster and faster and faster. After giving it some thought, he realized that when things are repetitive, his brain doesn’t have vivid memories and everything just kind of runs together. A lot of us have routines and habits that we do every day. Dr. Buske is all for creating positive habits that help you get the results you want, but sometimes we just need more. He believes rituals are a bit different because they go beyond just checking a box. Still, we need to get out of our comfort zone every once in a while. It can be something as simple as changing up your workout. Too often people go for the home run, and when they don’t succeed, they go right back to their comfort zone. Try instead for small, consistent changes.

Feedback & Leadership

Dr. Buske had a rough day at the office recently when one client ran late, causing him to be late for his next client. Tired of waiting, the second client walked out before being seen. Dr. Buske called her immediately because he knew he needed to restore his integrity. With things all smoothed over, Dr. Buske thought that was the end of it, but one of his employees had more to say on it. She laid out how trusting and letting his team lead him could’ve avoided that whole situation. Dr. Buske realized then that leadership doesn’t always mean you’re the one leading. Being a great leader means knowing when to be led. Dr. Buske always welcomes feedback because he knows it’s someone taking time out of their life to try to help him move closer to his vision.
