This week Joe talks with writers and podcasters Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan about their comics debut, Kill Your Darlings, drawn and colored by Bob Quinn, lettered by John. J Hill and published by Image Comics.
Kill Your Darlings #1 is out now, the day this episode comes out, so go check it out at your local comic store if you're interested! The synopsis for the issue is as follows:
"Eight-year-old Rose loves nothing more than to play pretend in a magical land of her own creation. To her, that world is as real as our own; from her fluffy friends to the terrible evil that lurks at the center of it all. In one night, the line between fantasy and reality will disappear, an ancient hunger will feed again, and Rose will be pulled into a gruesome saga that began centuries before her birth. A new epic begins from debut writers ETHAN S. PARKER and GRIFFIN SHERIDAN, and superstar art team BOB QUINN (Knights of X) and JOHN J. HILL (VANISH)!"

Kickstarter Conversation: Trevor Fernandes-Lenkiewicz on RISE
Joe Talks Comics
06/12/24 • 72 min
This week, Joe talks with Trevor Fernandes-Lenkiewicz, creator of Pocket Watch Press and writer of RISE, a new indie superhero comic that asks "what if you had to feel good to do good".
I got to read the first issue of RISE and I enjoyed it, I would recommend checking out the campaign if you're interested!
RISE #1-2 is now live on Kickstarter at kickstarter.com/projects/thehelix/rise2. Please go support it if you can, as projects like this won't happen without your support. It's vital to their success. Here is more of a synopsis for the comic:
"RISE follows Jonathan A. Prufrock as he delves into what it really means to be a good man while attempting to be super. This 40 page premium print comic explores one male's ego through the elevated life of a superhero and attempts to navigate the pressures of what it really means to be a good man.
How has masculinity become defined by performance? What does that mean for a man who's responsible for the lives of billions? In an industry saturated with superheroes, what makes this one RISE above the rest?
This story is about the man underneath the cape. RISE sets out to confront one man's relationship with his own masculinity, questioning his responsibility to the world around him and the role that he plays within it."
You can find Trevor and Pocket Watch Press across the internet through linktr.ee/pocketwatchpress.

This week, writer Christof Bogacs Returns! Again! to talk with Joe about his upcoming projects, including Requiem #2 (live on Kickstarter now!) and Rick and Morty Finals Week: Brawlher #1, illustrated by Beck Kubrick and out April 16th!
This was also just a really great, fun chat about a lot of things, including the comic industry, the world in general and anything else related to what we discussed that came up!
As always I hope you enjoy!
Requiem #2 is co-written by David T Hazan and illustrated by Phil Appley. The first issue was an awesome start to this sci-fi horror series, so I would recommend it!
