Within Jewish circles Alastair is possibly most recognisable as the founder of Limmud, a Jewish festival offering sessions on everything spanning arts, culture, social justice, Torah, philosophy, politics, history, and more. Limmud began in the UK but now has satellites all over the world. An experienced ex Head of three schools and education charity professional, Alastair came to the attention of the press when he was appointed as the UK's first "superhead" in Tony Blair's academy scheme. He currently works with the Foundation for Education Development on a project bringing together diverse voices and ideas in order to construct a long term strategy for education policy. But it was his experience with touring his one man show 'Much Ado About Noshing', that led him to develop his new project, Tsitsit, the world's first Jewish themed Fringe Festival. Happening across the UK in October 2021, Tsitsit will showcase grassroots Jewish themed music, theatre, comedy and (all being well!) a new children's musical Alastair himself is currently writing.
