From Napoleonic Wars To The War Of Attrition In Cyber Space | Redefining Society With Ian Hill | On Location At InfoSec London

The nature, methods, technology, and even public perception of wars have changed. But, unfortunately, they still exist, as humans haven’t changed as much.

In this conversation, we take a historic walk, and we discuss the present and future of conflicts that, at this point, for the most part, have already crossed that blurry line between physical and digital worlds.

Do you remember the board game Risk?

Well, I am pointing my blue army of tanks at you.

Your turn. Roll the dices. πŸŽ™βœ¨

Ian's InfoSec Europe Keynote Overview
The War of Attrition in Cyber Space
The nature of war has changed, from being traditionally oriented towards annihilation, advantage and glory to that of armed politics. The recent escalation of state sponsored cyber-attacks and political posturing over technology has effected a cyber-cold war, with nation states and their proxies vying for superiority in a virtual arms race. This situation took an ominous twist recently in a review proposing that Britain could use nuclear weapons in response to a devastating cyber-attack. In this session we look at the different dynamics of what global warfare will look like in the 21st century and how cyber defenders can better prepare for what’s to come.

Technology is human β€” it is part of who we are... our evolution... our future.
