Chinese machthebbers kunnen bedrijven maken of breken. Het inperken van de macht van de techbedrijven Alibaba en Tencent is daar een goed voorbeeld van. Wankele vastgoedbedrijven kunnen zomaar ontmanteld worden en sommige bedrijven wordt verboden winst te maken of aandelen aan buitenlandse beleggers te verkopen. En dan is er nog het duurzaamheidsvraagstuk. ESG-data over veel Chinese bedrijven is op zijn zachtst gezegd zwak, onbetrouwbaar of non-existent.
