Spirit Guides! Our Favorite Stories, How They Help Us, and Ways to Connect!
04/17/23 • 56 min
Who are Spirit Guides? They are "wayshowers," guiding us with wisdom, love, and light. They are teachers in spirit, such as personal guides, ancestors, spirit animals, the angelic realm - and let's not forget about the natural world, such as plants, trees, lakes, rivers, the ocean, mountains, and animals.
In this episode, Kristen and Tina talk about their first encounters with their spirit guides, what they have learned from those relationships, and how we all can connect with our magical team in spirit and in the natural world.
A message that Kristen often receives from her guides is that they are here to teach us to trust and have faith in ourselves; to believe how truly capable we are, no matter the trials and tribulations we face and endure. More importantly, they want us to know how much we are loved so we can learn how to love ourselves and others unconditionally.
Show Notes:
The best way to connect with our spirit guides is learning how to be still in the present moment- and to listen using our intuition.
Here are some resources to learn more about mindfulness and meditation, and to develop our intuition, so we can connect with our loving and compassionate spiritual team.

Soul Explorations! Tina Learns Italian and Kristen Takes a Deep Dive into Spirit Art!
Description:
For this week’s episode of Intuition Talks, Kristen and Tina share their Soul Explorations for the month of April. As we wrap up the first month of our new monthly format, we are sharing with all of you a new experience, practice, or ritual that we have incorporated into our lives over the month as part of our own seeking adventures. To get things started, Kristen chose to investigate the magic of Spirit Art while Tina looked to develop her Italian speaking skills during April.
As we explore each month, we know some of these new monthly adventures will stick and some we may let go—while always retaining the fun and the experience of the exploration. We hope that by sharing our journey with Soul Explorations, you will also be inspired to explore your own development.
Show Notes:
Lynn Cottrell's spirit art technique is used as a way for your spirit guides or higher self to connect and give you messages by showing you images that appear when the brusho paint dries on the watercolor paper. Have a go and enjoy!
Prep:
- Water & a large paintbrush to apply water on the watercolor paper.
- Brusho paint Brusho Crystal Colours and Sets | BLICK Art Materials (dickblick.com)
- Watercolor paper (roughly 8x11 will do).
- Small paint brush to dip in brusho paint powder.
- Cut a piece of saran plastic wrap that is as large as your watercolor paper.
Steps:
- Place the watercolor paper down in front of you.
- Have your brusho pots of paint out with lids off and your small paintbrush ready.
- Dip the large paintbrush in water and cover the watercolor paper completely until there is a nice gloss of water over it.
- Quickly choose the color of brusho you want by dipping the dry brush in the brusho powder (don't get the pots of powder wet).
- Flick the powder on the watercolor paper - but not too much. A flick or two is enough.
- You can do this several times with different colors - but don't cover the paper with too much paint. You want enough "white" from the paper to create lines.
- Immediately cover the paper with saran wrap.
- Place both hands on top of the plastic wrap and move your hands just slightly- but no more than once. Let the project dry overnight.
- The next day, take the saran wrap off, and voila! You should see lines and shapes on your paper.
- Now, connect with your spirit guides or higher self. Ask them to show you images that will help you in your spiritual work, development, or practice.
- Give yourself time to find images, like animals, landscapes, people's faces, mythical creatures - the possibilities are endless. It can be immediate, or you may need a few days to sit with your spirit art to uncover the messages your guides are giving you.
- Notice how you feel as you connect with each image and the scene as a whole. Let your intuition guide you to interpret the message.
- When you see an image, take a fine-point black pen or pencil and trace the lines that form the shapes that you see. You could see a tree, a mountain, an animal, a person, a face. Who knows! Have fun using this spiritual tool to connect with the spirit world! Thank you, Lyn
