Interview Under Fire Podcast
03/17/22 • 47 min
“I wanted to be in the most kick-ass all-female band ever.” It's time to live your truth and shred some gnar with Nobro - one of the more talented up-and-coming punk outfits in the modern era. We are joined by the band's founder and frontwoman Kathryn McCaughey in today's episode of IUF. From marking their first big-stage performance back at the WayHome Festival in 2017, Kathryn and her bandmates have been through plenty in recent years which required much dedication to their trade of playing the music they love. Now that the band is finally seeing results and receiving recognition due to the hard work put in, Kathryn stays humble and keeps the focus on building on this momentum. The new EP, “Live Your Truth Shred Some Gnar” will bring a smile to the face of many within the punk rock/metal community – as the record pays homage to the sounds of the 80s and 90s punk rock elements. With uniqueness in the compositions of everything that Nobro is about, the whole Punks Not Dead notion has a whole different meaning. “Live Your Truth Shred Some Gnar” is the hard-earned beginning of a bright chapter of a young all-female band ready to make waves. Tune in now with our conversation with Kathryn McCaughey and do not miss the newest EP from this Montreal-based punk band with an attitude unmatched, out now everywhere via Dine Alone Records.

S.11 E.04 – Terrance Hobbs of Suffocation
Interview Under Fire Podcast
12/15/21 • 27 min
We welcome guitarist Terrance Hobbs from one of death metal's finest outfits, Suffocation. After 3 decades of trekking the world while playing pure classic death metal riffs for millions of fans, we give Terrance the chance to sit and reflect on these countless memories. A lot of hard work during these years yet a rewarding experience. Everything came together as he and his bandmates unleashed the newest live album ''Live In North America”, which covers the entirety of their North American tour in 2018. While everything did come together, it also served as the final page in the band's most recent chapter – and that is the departure of their long time friend, bandmate, and frontman, Frank Mullen. It was time Frank left the band to pursue a new chapter of his own, but on a high note (literally). We ask Terrance about the positive impact that Frank has left on him and many others within the metal community. At the same time, these are quite the big shoes to fill as they have now found a new frontman who will lead Suffocation to the newest chapter, and that is seasoned vocalist Ricky Myers. Terrance mentions that even though there will never be anyone like Frank, Ricky was the perfect choice for the band's new frontman. Whether it be Frank, or Ricky – one thing is certain, Suffocation will forge ahead with some of the most exciting new music set to drop in the near future. They are 8 albums into their renowned career, and Terrance is more than eager to get the new tunes to the forefront. S.10 E.19 – Interview with Eyes Wide Open
Interview Under Fire Podcast
11/26/21 • 45 min
We welcome Erik Engstrand and Kristofer Strandberg from the Swedish metalcore outfit, Eyes Wide Open. Their highly-anticipated 5th album “Through Life And Death” just dropped, but not without the growth, experience, and dedication to their artistry over the years. They have been around for over a decade within the grounds of Sweden and the rest of Europe, establishing themselves as one of the more promising metal acts to come out of Scandinavia. Erik and Kristofer talk about how it can get a bit unorthodox trying to emulate other well-known native bands such as In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and At The Gates – but they also talk about how they created their own distinct sound which make Eyes Wide Open stand out from this convoluted Swedish heavy metal crowd of bands. Additionally, these two talented individuals take us through the themes, concepts, production, and even the eye-opening artwork behind each of their releases. Every album serves more or less as a storyline of sorts and their lyricism has painted vivid examples within their compositions. 5 albums, but it feels as if they are just getting started. Tune in now and be sure to buy and stream the new record from Eyes Wide Open, “Through Life And Death”, out now worldwide via Arising Empire.

S.10 E.15 – Interview with Kit Major
Interview Under Fire Podcast
11/09/21 • 64 min
It all began with “Strawberry Milkshake”. The Chicago-raised, LA-based artist Kit Major has come a long way since dropping that first single from a few years ago. From acting to writing scripts, Kit didn't really consider recording music until her college years. Taking a range of influences from artists like Prince and Bowie to Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa, Kit Major was more than ready to take the next step in her musical career. Within the last year or so, Kit has released some of her best work out of the gate with songs like “Solo Disco”, “Mind”, “When The Drugs Don't Work”, and "Party Street”. What is as important are the messages her songs convey - which circle around subjects such as anxiety, depression, and self-discovery to name a few. A big part of who Kit is can be heard within the lyricism, and we get the chance to dive a little deeper behind her upbringings and background that have shaped her into who she is today. She may just be getting started, but it's as if she's been here before. Tune in to this episode now and be sure to follow and stream Kit's music on all major platforms out there, and stay on the lookout for more exciting material from this rising star.
