In the latest Road Trip we take a drive down to Mystic, Connecticut. It is home to the country's largest maritime museum, Mystic Seaport. Beyond that it was popularized in the hit 1980's movie Mystic Pizza starring Julia Roberts. Learn about this and more.
New Englanders, children of the 1980's, and many others, have fond memories of family trips to shop at the iconic Bradlees department store. Forever linked with Stop and Shop, and at one time a giant in the retail industry find out what led to its demise.
Episode 4 ends with looking back at the clothing brands that the 'cool kids' wore in school in the 1980's and 1990's. Names like Ocean Pacific and Vuarnet just to name a few bring back memories for me of begging my parents to get me a shirt or at least a sticker of the logo to put on my Trapper Keeper.

Episode 96 dives headlong into the Holiday Season.
It begins with a look at a spot near and dear to my, and many other New Englanders, hearts. Edaville Railroad in Carver, Massachusetts combines Christmas scenery, cranberries, and trains into one delightful family-friendly park. Learn the story of how it got started and how it has persevered through nearly eight decades.
Tis the time of year for beloved Christmas TV specials. This week's Top 5 will look at some of them sure to give you plenty of good watching throughout the month. Charlie Brown, Rudolph, and more will bring back childhood memories and create new ones.
As kids when first discovering reading it was fascinating and exciting to find magazines geared toward younger people. From elementary school through high school there were great publications that made childhood fun. Reminisce about some of the beloved kids and teens magazines as we go way Back In the Day.
This week's Road Trip combines a lot of what makes the Holiday Season special. Snow, wide open spaces, a quintessential small town, and of course teddy bears. The town of Shelburne, Vermont is home to the Vermont Teddy Bear company and is sure to make for a perfect backdrop to December traveling.
There will of course be a brand new This Week In History and Time Capsule looking back at a date that will live in infamy.

Episode 63 starts with a trip down memory lane. For more than four decades The Paddock in Hyannis was home to great food and great music. Whether it was in house singers and musicians, or celebrities filtering in from the neighboring Cape Cod Melody Tent, there was always something going on there.
Our Road Trip segment takes us to the Green Mountain State and Brattleboro, Vermont. Covered bridges, farms, farmers markets, beautiful scenery, and more make us this charming New England town.
We go way Back In the Day and learn the struggles of being a kid in the 1980's and 1990's and needing to use the telephone. Personal smartphones were a long way off. Back then it was typically one phone, mounted to the wall, with little to no privacy.
A brand new Top 5 showcases the movies that remind me of my sisters. We all grew up in the 1980's and 1990's so nostalgia will be high on this list.
There's a brand new This Week In History and Time Capsule as well.

A movie so bad my grandmother made us walk out? Passing fads of the 1970s? A remix from the first episode of the podcast?
Episode 161 looks ahead toward the fall while looking back with a heavy dose of nostalgia.
It kicks off with a movie widely considered to be one of the worst of the 1980s. Howard the Duck was a somewhat popular Marvel Comics character so how did he end up as a punchline in the annals of terrible movies? We'll get into that plus the story of how my grandmother and I walked out of the theater during the film.
It's a double-dip of Back In the Day as we not only take a look back at the beginnings of the Nintendo Entertainment System but also back to Episode 1 of the podcast as the NES was a part of the very first show. It's time for a retro remix.
Not everything that is popular stays popular. This week's Top 5 is proof of that as we look at the passing fads of the 1970s. Did you partake in any of these?
There is a brand new This Week In History and Time Capsule featuring the release of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, the godfather of slasher films.

Episode 37 starts with the time I briefly wrote for Travel Channel's website. How did it come about? What were some benefits? What were some problems?
Take a trip back in time and reminisce about some favorite defunct New England based stores. These were all once giants of business but no more. They are collected in the latest Top 5 list.
The epic 2,100-mile Road Trip continues with a stop in Hagerstown, Maryland. Good food, breweries and wineries, hiking, fishing, and historical Civil War sites are just some of what makes up this town.
Go Back In the Day to find out just what in the world a Fotomat was. They once dotted the country by the thousands but advances in photo film development and eventually digital photography made them a part of history.
This Week In History includes the bizarre story of music's 27 Club who added another member this week in history. There is also a new Time Capsule as well.

I want to be like Mike. I don't want to be like Buster Sales. I also don't want to include any of these love songs on my playlists.

Episode 182 celebrates Valentine's Day in a roundabout way.

It begins with a birthday celebration of the greatest basketball player ever, and pop culture icon, Michael Jordan. A dominant champion who changed the game of basketball. A hugely influential athlete in terms of his endorsement prowess. MJ was one of the world's most well-known faces in the 1980s and 1990s. We'll do a deep dive into his impact.

We used to make it a Blockbuster night all throughout the 1990s. It was not due to this wacky employee training video. This week we go back in the day to look, laugh, and cringe, at a weird Blockbuster Video training tape from 1990. It is led by perhaps the most obnoxious character ever, Buster Sales.

The Top 5 will share some of the worst love songs ever. These are probably not the ones you want on your Spotify playlist if you want a romantic evening. Muskrats, Meatloaf, and Bubblegum galore.

There is also a brand new This Week In History and Time Capsule centered around the infamous St. Valentine's Day Massacre.

Episode 97 is a special show. It kicks off with a second interview with Lady of the Dunes documentary producer Frank Durant. It was recorded on location in Provincetown, with part of it being recorded from the exact location where the Lady of the Dunes, Ruth Marie Terry, was found in 1974. The new revelations are discussed, as well as what's next for the documentary and the book.
The mood gets a little lighter as Restaurant Storytime makes its return. The fifth installment tells the tale of when simple cleaning goes wrong. This is another true story pulled from nearly two decades of craziness working in the hospitality industry.
We go way Back In the Day to the 1980s and some of the oddest trading cards that have ever been produced. The 80s might not have had a monopoly on weird trading cards but bad movies, copycat cards, singers, television shows, and horrible real-world events are all things you could find on cards in that decade.
There's also a brand new Top 5 that shares some of the strangest discontinued breakfast cereals ever. Strange flavors, strange mascots, it should be no surprise that none of these lasted long.
As always there's a new This Week In History and Time Capsule surrounding the last humans to walk on the moon(so far).

Episode 24 starts off with a special interview. Mason Pryme is a highly-rated, award-winning chef. He is now plying his trade at the Cleat & Anchor in Dennis Port. He shared why this is his favorite place he has worked thus far and why you should come visit(Hint: Smoked BBQ, a huge craft beer list, live entertainment)
For decades a looming hulk sat out in Cape Cod Bay. Though it is not visible anymore the SS James Longstreet still resides off the coast of Eastham, just underneath the waves. Learn all about Cape Cod's target ship, how it got there, and why the bombings of it stopped.
Most generations have a fairly common line of demarcation. Generation-X, Millenials, Baby Boomers, most know when these generations began and ended. However for Gen-X and Millenials there is a bit of an overlap. What of those born in that time period? You might just be something called a Xennial, and I'll explain what that is.
This Week In History includes the opening of the first drive-in theater and more. There is also a special birthday related Time Capsule as well.

Lucky Episode 13 of the podcast begins with the story of The Outermost House in Eastham, Massachusetts. The tiny dune shack known as Fo'castle was where author Henry Beston lived for a year and wrote of life on Cape Cod's Great Beach. But what of the shack after the book was written? We explore that here.
Take a trip way Back in the Day to Chuck E Cheese's 'where a kid can be a kid.' Born from the mind of a video game pioneer this chain has had its share of tremendous ups and downs since debuting in 1977 and is actually as strong as its ever been currently. Reminisce about pizza and skeeball and horrifying animatronic animals.
The capital of Connecticut, Hartford, is the subject of this episode's Road Trip. Learn some of what makes this city a great spot to explore, and a few of the lesser-known attractions.
Finally This Week In History shines a spotlight on St. Patrick the man, Nevada legalizing gambling which gave birth to the casino hubs of Reno and later Las Vegas, plus more fun topics!

Episode 68 falls the day before Friday the 13th and this spooky day is intertwined throughout the show.
It begins with a somewhat creepy tale, though more sad and unfortunate. The West Barnstable Brick Company was a giant of Cape Cod business for more than half a century. Today all that remains are the bricks themselves which are collector's items, an overgrown area hiding bits of the old factory, and the story of what happened.
The town of Hull, Massachusetts is a crown jewel of the South Shore. Though small in actual size there is so much packed in to every bit of it. Beaches, old forts, carousels, high-class hotels, beautiful ocean views, delicious food and so much more. Find out all about it on this week's Road Trip.
The Friday the 13th franchise has been scaring audiences for more than forty years. There has been a dozen films and Jason Voorhees has become a horror icon. However did you know that in the 1980's there was an early attempt at a Friday the 13th video game? Made for the Nintendo this game promised to bring the slasher series to the video game medium. We go Back in the Day to see if it lived up to the hype.
There have been many larger than life bands from the Grunge and Alternative genre in the 1990's. There have also been some that burst on to the scene and then faded away. This week's Top 5 looks back at some of those lesser known bands and the music they created.
There's also a new This Week In History and Time Capsule looking back at the eradication of smallpox.
