I’m Being Seriously

Alexis Chavez

Some days I like interviewing creatives, entrepreneurs, community oriented people, and people with inspiring stories. Other days I like going on funny rants or having serious or not serious conversations with friends.

Interviewing Garth Trinidad IG: @garthtrinidad
Garth is a Los Angeles based dj, radio personality and overall a music lover amongst many of his other roles. Garth is well known for his previous music supervisor/dj role at KCRW. KCRW (89.9) is a public radio station based in Los Angeles. In this episode we talk about how Garth began his career, what he thinks about the future for radio and journalism. I ask him questions about artists that have changed his mind. Why he left KCRW. What he thinks about Drake and Anderson .Paak. How he finds music. How he feels about the reputation of djs. What he's currently listening to and a good rant that most people can agree on.

Interviewing Yesika Salgado IG: @yesikastarr
Yesika is a Los Angeles based Salvadoran poet and author of Corazón, Tesoro and Hermosa. In this interview we talk about a little of everything. We talk about gentrification in both of our hometowns, being diagnosed with bipolar II as a teenager, being fetishized by men online, the latest Love is Blind Gossip and the symbolism behind those 27 floors of graffiti.
Additionally, (since this is a 2hr episode lol) we talk about people buying into trends and hype when you’re not from LA. She tells me about people placing her in a box and them wanting her to be what they perceived her to be when they first met her. We talk about big opportunities she’s turned down because they didn’t align with who she is. Yesika shouts out a lot of her loved ones and some of her favorite places to eat. We even get into discussing male podcasters and a common experience that women relate to, being guests on some of these shows.

There's some changes in this episode and theres changes to the podcast overall! In this episode we were supposed to cover Disney Channel original movies (I think they're pretty good movies!) but yeah we ended up talking about our favorite deep conversation topics, people that talk down on therapy or people that invalidate you by telling you you should go to therapy. How people screw up our names and at one point wanting to change our names. We did end up talking a little about Disney Channel original movies y mas!
