Interviewing Yesika Salgado IG: @yesikastarr
Yesika is a Los Angeles based Salvadoran poet and author of Corazón, Tesoro and Hermosa. In this interview we talk about a little of everything. We talk about gentrification in both of our hometowns, being diagnosed with bipolar II as a teenager, being fetishized by men online, the latest Love is Blind Gossip and the symbolism behind those 27 floors of graffiti.
Additionally, (since this is a 2hr episode lol) we talk about people buying into trends and hype when you’re not from LA. She tells me about people placing her in a box and them wanting her to be what they perceived her to be when they first met her. We talk about big opportunities she’s turned down because they didn’t align with who she is. Yesika shouts out a lot of her loved ones and some of her favorite places to eat. We even get into discussing male podcasters and a common experience that women relate to, being guests on some of these shows.
