I Said What I Said - 98. A Spiritual guide to sustainable activism
play

07/08/24 • 65 min

On this episode I discuss how to carry out sustainable activism for any cause. I use the example of Palestine and my journey figuring out how to care for myself and Palestine without becoming emotionally burned out and cynical (again). I discuss:

  • The importance of becoming the ultimate authority in your life
  • Doing "what’s right" vs. what feels right
  • Attuning and honouring to your body’s internal Yes/No
  • Mood tracking
  • The energetic difference between expanding and contracting
  • Taking our social/media diet seriously

In upcoming episodes I'm going to be building on ideas of embodiment, losing people but/because of gaining self-love, and spiritual awakening. Today's episode lays the groundwork for these themes. I discuss some of my developments in:

  • Boundaries with self
  • Processing resentment through body work and dreams
  • Dream interpretation
  • Friendship breakups and self respect
  • Proprioception and ignoring the body’s cues

In a friendship dilemma? Consider the following:

  1. Think of the version of you who made this friend, are they someone you would consider trustworthy now? Did they hold standards and boundaries in a way that are useful to you now?
  2. This friend that you are unsure about, are they respectful or disrespectful?
  3. Are they comfortable with conflict? Do they leave room for disagreement?
  4. Are you inspired by them to be a more you version of yourself? What does their presence encourage or discourage in you?
  5. Are your best traits amplified by them or are your worst traits amplified by them or something in between?
  6. Who benefits the most from this relationship? Is it equally beneficial?
  7. What about this friendship lights you up? What about it makes you uncomfortable and uneasy?
  8. Have you tried setting a boundary and how did they respond?

Sorry if you hear a clicking sound - its my fidget toy oooops
