How She Did That - How She Networks as an Introvert
play

07/02/20 • 19 min

What do you think of when you hear the word “networking”? Do you picture yourself in a room full of professionals feeling nervous to approach one of them and make an introduction? Or does networking to you mean spending hours online researching, making comments on social media, and sending emails? Whether in person or online, we can all agree that networking is an absolute key part of finding and landing opportunities that lead to success. If you’ve ever heard the phrase, “It’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know,” then you get it! You might know someone who seems so gifted, almost lucky, when it comes to networking and making connections. Like every single time they reach out to someone it always results in a response that turns into this amazing relationship. If you’ve ever felt envious of people like this and wondered, “How in the heck do they do that?” then give today’s episode a listen and find out!

Joining us today to share her expertise is publicist and owner of Kaye Publicity Inc., Dana Kaye. Over the years Dana has been able to take what she has learned as a freelance writer, book critic, and brand manager for authors and apply it when teaching and coaching entrepreneurs. As you will hear her mention in this episode, she and many of her clients are what she calls “book people,” and therefore she is no stranger to the struggles of an introvert! Luckily, being an introvert doesn’t have to hold you back from absolutely killing it when it comes to networking. If that’s something you’re currently battling with, then today’s episode will definitely resonate with you!

We talk about:

  • How to overcome that fear and anxiety of having to network in a room full of people
  • How to navigate this when starting your business
  • How to choose your networking events and who to approach
  • How to deal with opportunities that fall through
  • What is one thing you can do today to become more comfortable with networking

I know there are some hands raised out there right now! And that's totally okay, in fact, this is probably a story that belongs to most of us! Joining us today is Rachel Pereyra. Rachel founded her business Mastermind Business Services in 2020 to change the world through operations. She works with her clients to eliminate the hurdles of running a growing business or non-profit that is focused on driving impact and sustainability. Rachel has over a decade of operations and people leadership experience spanning across several industries. This varied lived experience allows her to connect with clients where they are at and guide them to where they want to be.

Rachel is sharing her story of stepping into authentic self, reclaiming her joy, and falling in love again after walking away from a marriage that, she admits, should never have been.

She talks about:

  • Becoming a teen mom at 18, getting married at 19, and having a second child at 20
  • Coming out to her family for the first time
  • What she is most proud of

Fill in the blank.... “If my agency’s team was perfectly in place and we were ready to take on new clients and serve them well, the thing I’d be most worried about is _________.”

How would you end that sentence?

Here’s what I know...when your agency isn’t making the kind of money you want it to make, all roads lead to one of two causes... Pricing or Pipeline!

And no matter which path you choose, adventure (and a special FREE gift from me) awaits.

12/02/21 • 18 min

Can you believe it’s already December?! We’ve got four more weeks until the New Year is here and there’s a lot to do before we break for Christmas! But, as you know, I’m not one to promote #hustleculture. So instead of giving you a million more things to do on top of your mile-long to-do list, I’m going to give you something to take the edge off. I want to share five tips l use to mentally prepare myself, and my team, for the new year.

And to be clear, this is not a time-sensitive, race-to-the-finish-line list of things to do. These are just five tips I’m sharing with you because I know that they help me. I like to make my life a little easier, especially when planning something like an entire new year of business, so these five tips just remind me why I started my business and what I can be excited about for the next year. Like my word for the year, which is “deeper.”

This Week We Talk About:

  • How to give yourself grace in the New Year
  • How to deal with the highs and lows of business
  • What you can do to feel good about this year and confident for next year

Today’s guest, Danielle Adams, is someone who has been a long term coaching client of mine. Over the years I have had the pleasure of watching her go from managing a full time job, a budding business, and a family to now supporting her inside of my program The Agency Thrivemind as she grows her thriving agency! She shares how she used a layoff from her employment as her “swim or swim” moment and realized that generating an income doesn’t have to come at the expense of your time or your sanity.

I think Danielle’s story resonates with so many of us who have had traditional employment while growing our businesses; being away from home and accountable to an employer for so many hours of the day and then coming home and having to fit the rest of your life into those remaining hours can be tough!

Now Danielle encourages other entrepreneurs to achieve their business goals, increase their revenue, and create time to do things that bring them joy without sacrificing time with the people they love most. And I love how she has found a way to ask for - and receive - help with that mission in her business and her home.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Her decision to start her own business after being laid off
  • Her first 90 days as an entrepreneur
  • Finding work life balance

In this week's episode of the How She Did That podcast, I dive into the transformative changes we've made to our leadership team meetings to enhance productivity and maintain focus on our business goals. As a high quick start business owner with unmedicated ADHD, I found that our previous approach led to chaos and a lack of direction. We'd start the year with a strategic plan, only to lose sight of it as time went on.

To combat this, we've implemented a new structure for our weekly leadership meetings, ensuring we stay aligned with our goals and can adjust our strategies in real-time.

In this week's episode I'm sharing:

  • A breakdown of our revamped leadership meeting agenda.
  • What key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics we review at the start of every meeting and why.
  • The crucial question my team asks me every week that keeps me from being the bottleneck and avoiding CEO overwhelm.

By sharing this behind-the-scenes look at our leadership meetings, I hope to inspire other agency owners to refine their processes and create a business they love.

Sign up for my new masterclass called The Macro on Micro Agencies, happening February 22nd at 11am ET! In it, I'll be sharing 5 reasons why building a smaller agency could actually mean BIGGER profits and far fewer headaches. Go to tashabooth.com/masterclass to register!

When a client hires you to fulfill a role for a service they need and brings you on to their team, it can sometimes feel like you are the “new kid on the block” trying to fit in. You don’t want to step on any toes, you want the relationship to be cohesive and function seamlessly, while at the same time owning your expertise and way of doing things that you are bringing to the table. You want to feel like you are a part of the team and not an outsider, and you also want to gain their trust and leave them knowing they made the right decision bringing you in. Does that sound about right?!

The reality is that if you have ever struggled with this you are not alone, it can be tricky to find a good balance. Luckily, I have three amazing and helpful strategies that I want to share with you in hopes that going forward this will be something that you feel confident and ready to take on each and every time! Be sure to give this episode a listen for all of the juicy deets!

My Three Tips Are:

  • Schedule a quick 1:1 call with each team member (Yes, this means more meetings for you! It’s worth it, trust me!)
  • Have consistent all-team meetings
  • Create a plan for building camaraderie and culture

Ready to work with me & my team? Here are the ways we can support you:

The Agency Thrivemind - a program for those building or growing agency model businesses.

The Legendary Launch Manager Certification - A 3-month certification program for aspiring launch managers who are ready to level-up their skill set, increase their marketability, and expertly lead 6 and 7-figure launches with ease.

In this week's episode of the How She Did That podcast, I’m sharing how to cultivate self-leadership within your online agency team. I am a firm believer that every single member of your team, no matter their role, is a leader in their own right and it is my responsibility as CEO to help them develop those skills! By supporting them in seeing themselves as leaders and providing opportunities for growth, you can foster a culture of ownership, dedication and excellence within your company.

In this episode, I share how you can inspire the same leadership and autonomy in your own team:

  • Leadership is an Action: Leadership is about behaviors that align collective direction and execute strategic plans. It's something you do, not just who you are.
  • Encourage Solution-Focused Approaches: Team members should bring solutions, not just problems. This fosters a proactive mindset and encourages strategic thinking.
  • Ask for Their Input: Instead of always providing answers, ask your team members what they think. This empowers them to contribute their ideas and take ownership of their work.
  • Utilize the "Ask Three, Then Me" Philosophy: Encourage team members to seek answers and solutions from multiple sources before coming to you. This helps them use their resources and become more independent.
  • Implement a Tech Triple Check: This process ensures quality control and reminds team members to take responsibility for their work before it reaches the client.
  • Promote Ownership and Responsibility: Allow team members to own their successes and failures. This includes letting them address their mistakes directly with clients, which is a powerful learning experience.
  • Support Their Growth Outside of Your Direct Influence: Provide opportunities for professional development, such as coaching, courses, or stipends for books and conventions.
