Another year passes us by and just as we thought we were leaving all the drama that Covid brought us, 2022 decided that it wanted some of the action too with a brand new set of challenges.
It therefore felt appropriate to bring you a brief moment of joy at the most wonderful time of the year with some more tales of Christmas past with some more previous guests from our 120+ conversations so far, alongside those two legends Chris Fletcher & Kieron Bailey, who always bring the fun.
We've got Mark Kirby, Mitchell Collier, Chris Wayne-Wills, Jane Sunley, Ioannis Pantelidis, Paul Spencer and Bex McKeown, all reminding us of the madness that happens at this time of year through their stories involving gambling with people's bills, unwanted house guests, multiple personality Santa's, mutinous guests, offering food to rival hotels, Christmas lust, overbookings, life sized gingerbread houses, misdelivered gifts, reservation diary nightmares and even chefs on fire.
A huge thank you to all our guests for bringing their A game on the fun!
I hope it brings you brief moment of joy in what has been another challenging year.
Merry Christmas one and all.

#129 - Hospitality Meets Di Gwinnell - The People and Culture specialist
It's been a while since I've had a people and culture guru on the show so I've rectified that by getting today's guest on. I welcomed Di Gwinnell, Group People & Culture Director at Edyn Group (https://www.findingedyn.com/) for a chat about her story so far, and a whole lot more too.
We got through:-
- Portishead
- Edyn
- Good intent
- Hospitality plans
- Travelling
- Starting on an HR Graduate scheme
- Moving into Hospitality
- Cross sector experience
- The people landscape
- Retail v Hospitality
- The future
- Bunk beds in Hostels
And so much more. Di is a natural people person and her story represents yet another journey that stared without clear direction. She's sure making up for that now and I for one am a massive fan of what Edyn are getting up to
Enjoy!

#130 - Hospitality Meets Jonathan Reed - The Purpose Driven CEO
I love coffee, I mean I REALLY love coffee and coffee tastes even better when it's doing some good (Crediting that line with today's guest 100%).
So I thought, let's have a chat with someone in the coffee business as lets face it, where would hospitality be without it?
So I got some time with Jonathan Reed, CEO of Coffee Rockstar's and all round doers of great work, Paddy & Scott's (https://paddyandscotts.shop/).
This chat is a joy from start to finish as we cover off:-
- Ambition House
- The coffee journey
- Starting in Hotels
- People & Culture
- Self Awareness
- The importance of your health
- Your purpose
- Making a difference
- Paddy & Scott's, now and the future
- Going direct to source
There's so many great lessons in Jonathan's story, told with humour and humility (my two favourite things) throughout and Paddy & Scott's continue to be bold in their approach to mixing it up in the coffee market.
Enjoy!
