This story is about Kelsey who had many lemon experiences. She was adopted at 24 hours old and had a rough childhood that included domestic violence and sexual abuse. She was involved in two accidents that gave her her first taste of opioids. She ended with drug court and the odds were against her to fail but she didn't! Now she has dealt with her adoption trauma and childhood trauma. After 6 years of recovery, Kelsey mended those relationships and is working as a 3rd generation at the Weber County Sheriffs Office. This story is about Colene who as a little girl experienced almost every form of abuse imaginable. She spent her 16th birthday in a group home before starting her sophomore year of high school in foster care. After her second abusive marriage nearly ended her life, she fled to a domestic violence shelter with her 5 kids. Colene's journey to freedom includes many facets of counseling, safety planning, pattern changing classes, self help books, bible school, mentoring, public speaking, working with victims, abusers and a ton of baby steps. Now she mentors victims coming out of abusive relationships and sexual assault. What message do you get from this interview?
