1: GW In Solidarity
08/17/20 • 75 min
In the wake of civil unrest across the country and the world in response to police brutality and racial inequality, the GW community has taken a moment to reflect on our role in fighting against racial injustice and providing spaces for learning, unlearning, and healing. In this episode, Hannah Sturgis ('21) will sit down with Dr. Jordan West, the Inaugural Director of University Diversity & Inclusion for the Office for Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement. Dr. West will discuss her instrumental role in serving underrepresented communities at GW, especially at a turbulent time for many Black and Brown students.
Hannah will also get a chance to speak with the GW Student Association President, Howard Brookins III, and Vice President Brandon Hill. They will discuss what it is like to be leaders on campus and how they use their platforms to support and empower underrepresented students who are navigating GW, a predominantly white institution.
