Nicholas Wasierski reached out when I sent out an SOS after my "tech" issues (cat) and had to schedule re-dos for 3 conversations, and it took me a bit to understand what his practices are - in my defense, there are so many... But when he said he was a Rite of Passage Guide, I expected it to be more of a wilderness guide - boy was I wrong, and boy am I fascinated with this now! I was so close to asking for more context (a bit of a sample session), but I thought it might be too. long for you all to listen to in one sitting. But I plan to, and you can, once you get a taste here, too!
Nicholas is also an Herbalist, and quotes Hippocrates saying "Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food."
The 2 of these practices go together well, and serve his message that I added below - this is the message he hopes you'll leave this episode with more knowledge and curiosity of:
Humans' connection to the natural world.
Sustainability with how we manage our energy.

88: Sustainable Activism with Kadin McElwain

Kadin stepped in after I had a rough week technology-wise, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to see what he's up to!
Kadin is a Sophomore at Kent State University, studying Public Relations, and is hoping to represent musicians. Last summer he worked on a farm and learned a lot about the difference in eating locally grown food vs what is often found in grocery stores, and is looking forward to working there again this summer, because working with the earth is good for you.
Kadin is very passionate about being an activist, and standing up for what you believe in, and talks about how he practices sustainability in his activism for Autism and Climate Change, etc.
You can find Kadin on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083352067155
And his writing is available here: https://www.thesportscol.com/author/kadin-mcelwain/

90: Meal Planning and More with Megan Gaul

Grounded in Maine is thrilled to be partnering with Connor Tyson to support listeners with financial coaching. Connect with Coach Connor Tyson of Progress Solutions LLC here: https://bit.ly/48eM9Mc
Megan Gaul is the Owner of Partake Meal Planning and Wellness, and also is a weight loss coach with heart, because she doesn't say food are off limits; she knows it works, because she lost over 100 lbs 5 years ago. We talk about how her plan works, and tools she puts in place to ensure success. She talked about taking the next right action, instead of punishing ourselves for messing up.
Megan is also passionate about food waste, and uses meal planning to help be mindful of that. She says " By changing a few habits we can bring more healthy habits, and reduce our footprint on the world." She hosts a weekly meal planning session on Instagram, to show you how it works, and also offers a free meal planning guide.
We also talk about food journaling, something that I've struggled with in the past, and how to make it easier - listen here to learn all about it!
