The characters go through a lot of self-realization in this episode and Emily & Becca discuss why “identity” makes such a good theme. Derek begins to question himself and what is best for Meredith, Denny’s father calls into question Izzie’s love for Denny, Callie is still questioning why her personality sucks, and Addison is left to wonder what she’s doing in Seattle. Eric Dane (Mark Sloan) also officially joins the cast.
