Greens & Scenes with Cam & G - Ep10 - How we'd mentor you to become a single figure golfer
play

03/09/25 โ€ข 49 min

On today's episode of Greens & Scenes, we'll be running through Cam's five main areas to focus on if you want to lower your handicap from around mid-teens, early-twenties, down to single figures. We talk through the importance of working with the right golf coach, course management, getting confidence in a couple stock shots and of course, the mental side of golf, and the things we can do to make it easier. Both Cam & Georgina have had various levels of coaching over the years, bringing us both down to +2 handicaps currently. It's easy to take this for granted at times, and assume everyone knows these areas of knowledge that we've picked up over the years, however, we know that isn't the case for everyone. Hopefully, we've been able to share some useful info with you guys! As always, let us know your thoughts or questions on this podcast below ๐ŸŽง thanks for listening, and make sure you're following along!

How much of a difference really is there between high level amateur golfers and professionals? In today's episode of Greens & Scenes, your hosts Cam & G sit down to discuss some of the factors that make the professional golf level that huge jump up from a scratch player. From our experiences in amateur events, to playing courses such as The Old Course and Pinehurst, both in tournament and regular conditions. We discuss what Nick Nรธrggard said to G when she asked about pressure during high level events, and we try to unpack why a scratch golfer is most likely getting no where near level par in some of the pro events! Thank you guys for listening, and please let us know down in the comments your thoughts and any suggestions for future podcast episodes ๐ŸŽง

Today we're talking about Anstruther - a 9-hole golf course just a short drive outside of St Andrews. This short course has been one of Georgina's favourites for a long time, and after we both headed over there last summer, we're here to try convince you of exactly why this course should NOT be missed out on a golf trip to St Andrews. From the views to the award winning par 3, this course is like no other and makes for a really fun couple of hours out on the course. **Note, it was actually 2007 the course won hardest par 3 in the UK - not 2012, although, that would have been very appropriate if it had of, in our opinion! Remember you can watch our 9-hole match at Anstruther over on our YouTube channel 'CGGolfs', and let us know down in the comments where you think we should play next!

Greens & Scenes with Cam & G - Ep5 - The golf formats we HATE Vs the ones that reinstall our love for the game
play

02/19/25 โ€ข 25 min

In golf, thankfully there are SO many different formats that we can play to make the game more enjoyable and to play it with friends! In this episode of 'Greens and Scenes' Cam and G discuss their favourite and least favourite golf formats to play. While matchplay allows you to be more aggressive, strokeplay also allows for the truest test of golf against the course. We discuss how there are certain occasions each format comes into its own and give a run through of some formats you can try on your next outing to the course. Whether it is a random club generator, worst ball scramble or alternate shot; there are so many ways to rekindle your love for the game if you are struggling with some golfing winter blues. Tune in to hear our thoughts on all of these formats and many more! Thank you for listening, and please let us know down in the comments you favourite and least favourite formats as well as any discussion topics you'd like to hear in future episodes! Share with your golfing partners for some inspiration for your next match!

Today we are discussing one of our favourite 9-hole courses - Covesea Links. Located in the North of Scotland, it is surrounded by many championship links courses. Covesea is the perfect compliment to one of these links courses on a trip up North and itโ€™s 9 holes have so much character, as well as some amazing views! The course is relatively new, but has a timeless feel to it, which is credit to the natural design. We discuss the course layout at Covesea, as well as the wider area and golf scene up in that part of the world. We were very lucky to play there last year on a trip to the nearby Lossiemouth and our full match can be found on our YouTube channel (@cggolfs) ๐Ÿ“บ

In this episode of 'Greens and Scenes' Cam & G chat about a recent round from Cupar Golf Club (also known as the oldest 9 hole golf club in the world). Located within 20 minutes of St Andrews, this historic 9-holer is in a fantastic location for us and the many thousands of tourists visiting the area each year. It is also the 1st new Scottish golf course we have managed to explore in 2025! Opened in 1855, the course has to be taken as you find it. Built on a slope, with the greens sculpted into the hill, it is a challenging short course where precision is very important. Miss the small greens and up & downs are hard to come by! We had a great match which will be coming to the @cggolfs YouTube channel soon! Tune in to find out who comes out on top ๐Ÿ‘€
