Plot Summary: After a fight, Joel Barish (played by Jim Carrey) discovers that his girlfriend Clementine Kruczynski (played by Kate Winslet) has had her memories of him erased by the New York City firm Lacuna. Heartbroken, he decides to undergo the same procedure. In preparation, he records a tape for Lacuna, recounting his memories of their volatile relationship. As the Lacuna employees work on Joel's brain as he sleeps in his apartment so that he will wake up with no memory of Clementine, Joel re-experiences his memories of Clementine as they are erased, starting with their last fight. As he reaches earlier, happier memories, he realizes that he does not want to forget her. They ultimately have to determine if love with pain is better or worse than no love at all.

Glory (1989)

Dad and Tom are back to round out military month in honor of Memorial Day with the movie that won Denzel Washington his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, Glory also starring Matthew Broderick, Cary Elwes, Morgan Freeman, and Andre Braugher.

Plot Summary: Captain Robert Shaw (Matthew Broderick), a Union Officer in the Civil War, accepts a promotion to command the 54th Massachusetts, one of the first all-black regiments in the Union Army. He asks his friend Cabot Forbes, (Cary Elwes) to serve as his second in command. Their first volunteer is another friend, Thomas Searles, a bookish, born-free African-American (Andre Braugher). Other recruits include John Rawlins (Morgan Freeman, Jupiter Sharts (Jihmi Kennedy), and Silas Trip (Denzel Washington). Despite their willingness and dutifulness to fight, Shaw's men confront a base's racist quartermaster, reduced pay for black soldiers, and continued racism among the Union leadership who plan to use the soldiers only for manual labor. In the end, their example displays the courage and honor of black soldiers spurring more to join the cause.

The Great Dictator (1940) ft. Sarah Duncan

Dana and Tom welcome back Sarah Duncan for a record-tying 4th time to discuss one of her favorite movie stars, Charlie Chaplin, who wrote, directed, produced, and starred in two roles for The Great Dictator.

Plot Summary: After dedicated service in the Great War, a Jewish barber (Charles Chaplin) spends years in an army hospital recovering from his wounds, unaware of the simultaneous rise of fascist dictator Adenoid Hynkel (also Chaplin) and his anti-Semitic policies. When the barber, who bears a remarkable resemblance to Hynkel, returns to his quiet neighborhood, he is stunned by the brutal changes and recklessly joins a beautiful girl (Paulette Goddard), her neighbors, and the disgraced Commander Schultz (Reginald Gardiner) in rebelling. Will the forces of hatred or the cause of humanity win out in this epic satire?
