In the news section of the show Maine and Josh talk about the official announcement of ADCC 2021 Las Vegas, as well as some other ADCC related news including match breakdown and rules clarification coming from Mo Jassim the ADCC 2019, and 2021 event coordinator. We talk about the stacked Third Coast Grappling Kumite III bracket that was announced. Also discussed in news was the changing of the Spyder Korea dates to June. Plus some UFC Woodly Vs Burns discussion and Mackenzie Dern hitting the first leg lock in woman’s UFC history.

In the recap section we start with Craig Jones Vs. Vagner Rocha the rematch 3 years in the making. We discussed Craig’s use of the DLR and entries into leg lock attempts, and Vagners escape strategies, then discuss the overtime submission. We talk about Jordan Holy quick modified Estima Toe Hold victory, and Robtero Jimenez fast triangle entry that ended his bout quickly as well.

In the recap of Fight to Win 142 we discuss how crazy dominating Gabi Garcia is and some alternative strategies for dealing with Gabi that Kendall might have employed. Plus Ethan Crelinsten vs Kade Ruotolo in another very hard to pick well matched fight. We also take a look at a few more great matchups on the card.

We also preview Third Coast Grappling Kumite I that has a stellar 8-man bracket and exciting superfights. We talk about how well matched the bracket is and how every grappler has a pathway to victory in the event. We talk about front-runner Gustavo Batista, and replacement Gabriel Arges could be a force on the left side of the bracket. As well as a possible Manuel Ribimar victory from the right side.

#133 Recap F2W 141 Lovato Returns to the Gi, Preview F2W 142, SUG 14, Spyder

This week on the show Maine and Emil recap Fight To Win 141, preview Fight To Win 142, Spyder Korea Road to Black Belt, and Submission Underground (SUG) 14. In the news section of the show we talk about a ton of match ups including Third Coast Grappling’s Kumite II bracket, Woodley vs Durino in the UFC. We talk about news from the IBJJF, and some recently released instructional videos.

In the recap section of the show we talk about Fight To Win 141 headlined by Rafael Lovato Jr vs Arnaldo Maidana for the light heavyweight title. We talk about Lovato returning to the Gi after almost three years, and seemingly not missing a beat in this pressure heavy performance, that ended with a cross choke submission from mount. We look at some grip and passing exchanges in the match, and who Lovato should face next.

In the co-main event, we talk about Edwin Najmi vs Benson Henderson and how crazy good at flying triangles Najmi is. Including talking about some of the spider guard setups used in the match, and some of the comments Najmi made on his preferred finishing sequence ending on his back vs in mount.

We also talk about the Brown Belt title fights including William Tackett vs Troy Russell III. We talk about Tackett’s domination in this match and how he was able to stay multiple steps ahead of Troy, ending the match with a very interesting inverted triangle armbar combination. We also review the rest of the results on the card.

In the preview section of the show we talk about Submission Underground 14 (SUG 14) headlined by Vagner Rocha vs Craig Jones II, we talk about their first match and how the weight difference might play a larger factor in this rematch. We talk about the possibility of Craig implementing more standup with the weight advantage, and Maine theorizes that Craig will pull as he has done in recent SUG matches. Also on the card is Roberto Jimenez, Jake Shields, and Jordan Holy.

In our preview for Fight to Win 142 we dive deep talking about Dante Leon vs Johnny Tama in an exciting rematch between two current IBJJF no-gi world champions. We discuss Gabi Garcia vs Kendall Reusing in what could be a very interesting dynamic in the F2W ruleset. We briefly discuss Lucas Valente vs Mateus Gabriela during the preview.

In the preview for Spyder Korea Road to Black Belt we discuss the mix of Korean, American, and Brazilian competitors in the bracket and talk about historically why we are very happy to see top level colored belts being showcased on the Spyder stage.

In the news section of the show we announce all the pro events that have released dates for upcoming events. Including GrappleFest, Polaris, SUG, and more. We talk about Raphael Lovato Jr. potentially facing an IBJJF world champion in his defense of his Fight to Win Light Heavyweight Title in the Gi.

In the recap section we kick it off with Kyle Boehm eating magic mushrooms ahead of his match with Gordon Ryan, we talk about two fantastic moments in the match, one from Kyle and the counter at the end by Gordon that lead to the triangle armbar Mir lock combination finishing submission. Next we take a look at Tye Ruotolo vs Nicky Ryan that ended up differently than we had speculated in Tye implementing a great game plan, positionally shutting Nicky down, and neutralizing the leg lock entries thrown by Ryan in a very impressive performance, that ended with Tye calling out Garry Tonon who was in attendance at the event. We break down the extremely controversial match between Kade Ruotolo and Ethan Crelinsten, that left many wondering about the results. Then talk about the rest of the matches on the card. Including a barn burner of a match between Kody Steele and Alec Baulding, a great leg lock performance by Elizabeth Clay, and a great positional match from Hunter Colvin.

In the recap of 3CG Kumite I we go through all of the bracket matchups including Pedro Marinho tech falling William Tackett, and Roberto Jimenez impressive armbar of Manuel Ribamar from a very interesting set up from the DLR and grip feint. We discuss Gabriel Arges RNC victory over Jake Watson, after a leg lock attempt, and then go into the semi finals. We recap the 4th match between Roberto and Pedro that another armbar victory from Roberto. In the finals match we talk about the $10,000 guard pass that saw Gustavo Batista take home the prize money.

In the preview section we discuss Fight to Win 143 headlined by Victor Hugo vs Fellipe Andrew in what could be a very interesting matchup. The Co-main event: of Ana Carolina Vieira vs Nathiely de Jesus for the title, and newly added match between Kendall Resuling vs Elizebeth clay for a top ranking spot in woman’s heavyweight.

We also have an exclusive bracket reveal for the JitzKing Middleweight bracket. We discuss all the first round matchups and Maine talks about whom he thinks will potentially take the each matchup each round.
