Transitions and Newcomers to NYC with Kelly Kreth (Brick Underground)
12/27/21 • 59 min
It's the finale episode of season 4 and we're talking Transition and Newcomers to NYC...
It has been particularly challenging the last two years for those moving in, out, or around the city and will continue to be so going into 2022.
Episode 48 brings you writer, real estate publicist, and expert, Kelly Kreth to share her wild NYC story and talk more about her role at Brick Underground, which is a one-stop online resource on all things real estate as well as an informative guide on living in the city and also a platform for sharing real New Yorkers living situations.
In our interview Kelly will dive into two big narratives that have defined NYC’s ever revolving housing door the last two years. She’ll note how newcomers to the city are happy to be part of the city’s “rebirth” after the ‘New York is Dead’ conundrum that has plagued the city and caused an uproar amongst many. She’ll also dive into what New Yorkers have transitioned into the most during the pandemic, as well as, where one can get the biggest bang for their buck in the city, and also share some crazy living stories that may make one think twice about moving here.
Kelly is the first guest interview ever where someone had absolutely no negative feedback about NYC. Her positive reinforcement comes through as she states that, “no matter how long you’ve lived in New York...you’ll always still feel honored just to be here.”
Enjoy the interview with Kelly Kreth and be sure to check out all the links at the bottom of the show notes here. You can catch Kelly’s email and share your New York living story with her & Brick Underground.
It has been my absolute pleasure serving my listeners, supporters and New York City with another year and season, and I’m very much looking forward to BIG things for the podcast and NYC in 2022.

From New York with Love with ZIGS (Part 2 of 2)
New York, we’ve come a long way! Happy Thanksgiving week to you and yours, hoping that you can spend it with those you love this year, wherever you may be.
Episode 47, I bring you Part. 2 of From New York with Love with Zigs (Erica Zigon). Zigs and I talk about how her iconic New York songs nearly didn’t happen, and how the song Manhattan was born in the living room of her small apartment. It was there in which it all began and the entire band jammed out in an impromptu session to create the foundation for the song. She also reveals the band who sparked her creative process for this New York centric album, plus much more.
And, as the winter and holidays approach, we also discuss her non-profit We've Got You Covered (WGYC), which aims to help the homeless population in the city by providing blankets, shoes, clothes and above all a human to human connection. Zigs notes, she’s learned more speaking to these homeless individuals and hearing their stories than she did throughout her schooling. Now, that’s what I call the school of life in New York City!
Tune in and let us know which version of the Manhattan song you like best - the studio version or regular version?

Landmarks of New York with Tommy Silk
There is no New York without its landmarks and history, and I have the perfect guest to open up the new season 5!
Tommy Silk, creator of @landmarksofny not only offers knowledgable posts and insights to an array of landmarks in the city, but he can also give you a tour of them as a certified tour guide in New York City. Sprinkle in his history degree from Fordham University and you have yourself an expert on landmarks.
With a great deal of knowledge about the city and Tommy’s New York story, it can all be digested in just under an hour. Here’s a little of what we chat about on this episode...
✧ Making the move from Manhattan to Brooklyn - the pros and cons
✧ His #onlyinnewyork story of a big raccoon taking over Central Park
✧ How the preservation of landmarks in NYC got started
✧ The most overrated and underrated landmarks, landmarks for newbies in the city and also for natives to explore as well
✧ His favorite landmark and the amazing story behind it
✧ We even talk Staten Island and give it a landmark shout out
✧ Plus we play a fun pop quiz game on landmarks, which he was not expecting. How did he do?
I’m so excited to have had the opportunity to interview him.
