In this episode, we chat about Tofino Distillery. It's organic! It's tasty! It's very West Coast. Glen reminisces about his first time visiting their tasting room and Em gets the territory acknowledgement right this time. We both agree that their Navy Strength Gin is unreasonably smooth given the 57% alcohol.
Their website elaborates on what organic means to them:
- Certified Organic BC Grain from FieldStone Organics - Armstrong, BC
- Water from the Meares Island watershed reservoir in the heart of Clayoquot Sound
- Certified Organic Botanicals sourced from all over the world
These folks don't do the social media thing, but you can find them at their website:

We learned more about this distillery from reading The Distilleries of Vancouver Island: A Guided Tour of West Coast Craft and Artisan Spirits by Marianne Scott, published by TouchWood Editions. It's a delightful book that gives some background on the people behind each craft distillery, as well as their distilling process, products and awards. It also shares some context about BC's craft distilling culture as a whole and we reference this book frequently when talking about Island distilleries. We highly recommend finding a copy of your own at an independent bookstore!
