Today I’m joined by the creators and executive team behind one of the best TV shows of our generation, Degrassi! Linda Schuyler, the co-creator of the series, wrote the new memoir "The Mother of all Degrassi", out everywhere today!
This chat is a serious "pinch me" moment. I got the chance to speak with 2 of the masterminds behind one of my favourite TV shows, which has majorly impacted my life growing up.
The storylines and characters from this show shaped me and my friends lives in ways I can't describe, so getting to connect with the creators of this show to learn more behind the scenes secrets (including details about Drake's EPIC audition as a young kid!) was such a treat!
If you're a Degrassi fan... this is *the* episode you need to listen to! Check it out!

Tarah's books have been on the up and up lately, with previous releases including "Rootbound", and "Funny Feelings". Having self-published 3 books in under 2 years, I loved getting to connect with Tarah about her writing experiences, decision to remain an indie author (for now!), how she writes these delicious main characters, all about the steam... and so much more!

Get Lit With Lianna: The Podcast - Get Lit with Julia Whelan, author of "Thank You For Listening"
play

08/04/22 • 34 min

In this episode I’m joined by author, Award-winning audiobook narrator and actor, Julia Whelan, who wrote the new romance book, “Thank You For Listening".
I first heard of Julia when she narrated "Gone Girl" in 2012 - but she later went on to win multiple Audie Awards for her narrations of "Educated", "The Witness", "My Year of Rest and Relaxation" and so much more. Her debut romance novel, "My Oxford Year" is one of my favourite love stories I've ever read - so getting to chat with her about her prolific career is such a dream come true!!
This book is a true love letter to romance books in all its forms! First of all - the love story is between two romance audiobook narrators. Wrap your head around that!!! Second of all, there are SO MANY tropes in here - it's heaven. There's nothing like a romance book that pokes fun of romance books and that's a hill I'll die on.
I had the absolute best time connecting with Julia, and am so excited for her next potential story... which all of you who have read "Thank You For Listening" will be GUSHING OVER! Tune into this episode to find out what I'm talking about :)

Today I'm joined by screenwriter Eirene Tran Donohue, screenwriter of Lifetime's latest Christmas RomCom "Christmas In The Spotlight", which is inspired by the globally obsessed relationship between pop phenom Taylor Swift, and NFL star Travis Kelce.
The movie, which premieres on November 23 on Lifetime, is inspired by the celebrity couple - though has not direct connection to the pair. Seen as a piece of fan fiction, Eirene sits down with me to chat about her writing background, the importance of showcasing diverse stories and actors on screen, her love for Taylor Swift, and how this swoon worthy film came to be!
I loved getting to dive deep into this film with the mind that created this story, speaking about all of the fun Taylor Swift easter eggs embedded into the script, and of course the themes that will resonate with so many romance readers/watchers. Even if you aren't a fan of Swift, this movie is a holiday classic that anyone will enjoy!!

Today I’m joined by romance author, Chloe Liese, who makes her traditional publishing debut with her romcom re-telling of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing", one of Amazon's top romances, "Two Wrongs Make a Right".
Many people know Chloe as the author of the beloved Bergman Brothers series, which she has been self-publishing over the last few years. Today, I sit down with Chloe to chat about this new storyworld she's created, what it's like to shift from self-publishing to traditional publishing, and of course dive into the major themes of this romance book.
We get into everything from the importance of creating neurodivergent main characters in romance books, the inspiration behind this story in particular, and what Chloe is working on next!

Get Lit With Lianna: The Podcast - Get Lit with Kennedy Ryan, author of "Before I Let Go"
play

11/28/22 • 43 min

Today I’m joined by RITA award-winning and bestselling romance author, Kennedy Ryan, who wrote the new romance/women's fiction love story, "Before I Let Go".
Kennedy has been one of my favourite authors for the longest time, so having the chance to sit down with her to chat about some of her most beloved stories was such an honour.
This conversation is jam packed! We get to chatting about Kennedy's fan favourite series that are currently in pre-production for TV & film adaptations, her writing background, and then of course the themes and key moments from her latest release, "Before I Let Go".
This book is easily one of my favourites of the year, so it was such a joy to speak with Kennedy about the difficult themes and topics covered in this book, and to learn how much work and research went into perfecting this story to ensure it was told with authenticity and credibility.
This episode will definitely go down as one of the more special chats I've recorded yet, so I hope you all enjoy and learn something new from this conversation. For this episode in particular, please note the content warnings below.
CW: stillbirth, death of a parent figure, divorce, grief, depression

Get Lit With Lianna: The Podcast - Get Lit with Allison Winn Scotch, author of "The Rewind"

11/07/22 • 33 min

Today I’m joined by New York Times best-selling romance author, Allison Winn Scotch, who wrote the new romance, “The Rewind”!

Allison is widely known for her novels “The Theory of Opposites”, “Time of My Life”, as well as “Between Me and You”, which is currently in development as a podcast/audio series for audible, produced by the one and only Kerry Washington! In fact, in this episode, Allison also shared with me (early!) that “The Rewind” is in development at Netflix!! We love to see all these adaptations!

I loved getting to chat with Allison about her career, details about my favourite moments from “The Rewind”, and what she’s working on next. This was such a fun episode to record and I hope you all love getting to know Allison more intimately from this chat!

Get Lit With Lianna: The Podcast - Get Lit with Jackie Lau, author of "The Stand-Up Groomsman"
play

11/01/22 • 18 min

Today I’m joined by Canadian romance author, Jackie Lau who wrote the new romcom “The Stand-Up Groomsman”.

You may recognize Jackie as the author of “Donut Fall In Love”, a sweet romcom that made its debut last year. Though this story is a continuation of her previous work, both can be read as stand alones, which I particularly love.

This book was so much fun for me, as it incorporated my love for romance novels and stand-up comedy! Jackie and I chatted about the LGBTQ and Asian representation in this story, how she managed to write mini stand-up sets within the text of this book, why she loves reading and writing romance, and more!

Get Lit With Lianna: The Podcast - Get Lit with Alison Cochrun, author of "Kiss Her Once For Me"
play

11/16/22 • 27 min

Today I’m joined by one of today’s leading LGBTQ2+ romance authors, Alison Cochrun, who wrote the new holiday romcom “Kiss Her Once For Me”.

Alison’s debut novel, “The Charm Offensive”, made waves upon its debut, as one of the top M/M romances released that year. In her sophomore novel, Cochrun has taken a spin on the beloved 90s romcom “While You Were Sleeping”, and completely transformed the story into one of the best holiday romances I’ve read this year!

We had the best time chatting about the importance of telling diverse stories with dynamic and authentic lead characters, what Alison’s favourite romance tropes are to read and write, some of my favourite moments from this book (including the ADORBS meet cute!), and what she’s working on next!
