The fire department would come and put out the blaze. Upon the fire being put out, two people were found in the home and they had tragically died. However, upon investigation it was discovered that the two deceased had in fact not died from the fire and were in fact murdered before the fire was set. This week we take a close look at the deaths of Jane and Cathryn Johnson.

GBNF: A True Crime Podcast - 30. The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann
play

05/16/22 • 45 min

On the evening of May 3rd, 2007 a three year old girl went missing from her bed during the night while her family was on vacation at a resort in Praia da Luz in Portugal. This case has been described as the most heavily reported missing person case in modern history and to this day, 15 years later her whereabouts still remain unknown. German prosecutors believe that the young girl is certainly dead but her family, people that know the family and people who don’t know the family all continue to hold out hope that she is still alive. At the very least, we hope that all of the eyes and attention on this case now, so long after will ensure that regardless of the outcome, everyone involved will get a sense of closure in this case.

If I say the name Eric Clinton Kirk Newman to you, odds are that unless you are really and truly a lover of True Crime, that name doesn’t ring a bell for you. However, when Eric Newman legally changed his name, he changed it to something that is much more known in the casual true crime world and also known by almost every person that was alive at the time that he committed his crimes, and especially his worst crime. In 2006 Eric changed his name to Luka Magnotta and on May 25th, 2012 a series of events would kick off that would give Luka Magnotta something that he had been chasing for his entire life, fame. But not the fame that any normal person looks for, no, Luka Magnotta decided to up the level of crime that he was committing, and he had already committed a lot and a lot of heinous crimes, this time he would commit murder and desecration to a body unlike almost anything ever seen before on Canadian soil. This case is a look into how horrible things on the internet can really be, if you weren’t already aware. Welcome to episode 23 of Gone, But Never Forgotten, the life and crimes of Luka Magnotta.

Bruce McArthur is a name that you likely know if you know a lot about True Crime in Canada. Bruce is known as the oldest known serial killer in Canadian history. This week, in part one, we will take a look at the early years of Bruce McArthur and the things that happened along the way to the crimes that he is more well known for. The interesting thing that you will discover is that the years that led up to Bruce becoming a serial killer are actually quite a bit different than the back-stories that you hear from others who wind up committing similar crimes. Bruce McArthur would end up being much older than most people are before something inside of him changed.

September 3rd, 1985 was a cool fall day in Saint John, New Brunswick. It was the day after Labour Day and everyone was transitioning into back to school, back to work and back to cooler temperatures. In Saint John it was a very popular time as The Atlantic National Exhibition was taking place. The ANE is an annual fair that features art, crafts, horticulture, livestock exhibits, family entertainment and a midway. The ANE was filled with laughter, happiness and good times. Unfortunately though on this date things would take a turn for one person in particular that was at the fair and today, 37 years later it is still a night that is remembered with sadness, confusion and heartbreak.

Most missing person cases centre around one person or perhaps at most, 2 or 3 people, but in the case that we are discussing today that is not the case. This case centres around six boys that all disappeared at the same time, in the same place. This case took place in 1995, it turned 27 years of age in March of 2022 and to date this case is still confusing, perplexing and crazy to anyone that knows about it. The boys are referred to as The Lost Boys because they seemingly disappeared into thin air and the case is no closer to being solved today than it was when it took place. Get ready to here an interesting story that doesn’t have a close to it even with so many people still following it and tracking in and trying to solve it. There has been next to nothing in the way of evidence and all that is left is that wonderment and for those involved, the heartbreak. Welcome to Gone, But Never Forgotten, The Lost Boys of Pickering, Ontario.
