#010: Return of the Big Man | Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic
Full Court Press the Podcast
02/26/21 • 42 min
Throughout the decade of the 2010s, the NBA and the game of basketball were pushing forth a new style of play: small ball and the 3-pointer. The Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors, and the Toronto Raptors, took advantage of their backcourt play during this period, which solidified a championship for their respective franchise. Just when you thought the center position or the "big man" disappeared, two 7'ft goliaths emerged, and have been changing the way basketball is being played. Join Boni and Felix as the Toronto natives give an in-depth analysis of two centers taking the league by storm: Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic.
- Positive Affirmation: When we hit our lowest point, we are open to the greatest change - Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender / The Legend of Korra.
- Which trip do you prefer: Kevin Durant with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson OR James Harden and Kyrie Irving?
- Felix: gives insight on the biography of Joel Embiid and how he's becoming one of the more popular names in the NBA today.
- Boni: gives insight on the underdog story that is Nikola Jokic and how he, at the center position, is continuing the dialogue of what the "big man" represents in the NBA.
- Boni & Felix end the episode by playing a board game-inspired classic, 5 Second Rule: Sports Edition

So James Harden is on the Brooklyn Nets, Victor Oladipo is on the Houston Rockets, the Cleveland Cavaliers have skyscrapers as a roster, and Caris LeVert is an Indiana Pacer. However, LeVert discovered he has a small mass in his kidney upon his trade to Indiana from Brooklyn. Whether this mass in his kidney is benign or malignant (results not in as of yet), a player's health is no joke to an opposing fan.
As of January 26, 2021 - - [Source Shams Charania: Caris LeVert had surgery to treat kidney cancer and will make a full recovery].

- Why do NBA players collaborate with hip-hop artists nowadays?
- Do you remember the greatest streetball game that never happened?
