#59 Black Owned Self Care: How Wellness Boxes are Empowering Black Women w Denise Furlough and Kala Garner
From a Full Cup
11/16/23 • 41 min
Today on Episode #59 Black Owned Self Care: How Wellness Boxes are Empowering Black Women w Denise Furlough and Kala Garner , I talk with business owners Denise Furlough and Kala Garner about how they intentionally and methodically designed a self-care box subscription to help Black women embrace self-care, mindfulness and balance.
In this episode we discuss:
-what makes Betterness Box stand out amongst other wellness subscription boxes
-why Black women in America are especially in need of and deserving of a self-care subscription box
-how to start with a seed of an idea and turn it into a successful business
-why wellness must be holistic and all-encompassing in order for it to be truly transformative
-why giving a subscription box to others may not be the best choice
Team BetternessBox is led by two passionate perfectionist-recovering gals who are also sorority sisters and lifelong friends. Our stories are much like yours. As we grew in our womanhood, we were searching for ways to feel confident, beautiful, inspired and celebrated. We started this lifestyle subscription box with Black women in mind. Black women are holding up the world while keeping the community connected. There’s a lot riding on our shoulders. It’s hard to justify downtime with so many responsibilities, but self-care is necessary to avoid burnout. Black women are divinely original, uniquely created and radiantly beautiful. It’s time to own it!
