Podcast Q&A
Why did you start this show?
I love the Borderlands video games. The Assault on Dragon Keep DLC and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands were amazing too. So the second they announce there would be an actual Bunkers & Badasses TTRPG I knew that I wanted to do an actual play using it and tell stories in that setting. Having a real play is a good excuse to get a game played almost weekly!
What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?
We hope that listeners will be able to laugh and enjoy a fun group of players running through this custom world. We don't take ourselves too seriously, but we all love playing this game together and the stories we get to tell.
Which episode should someone start with?
Episode 1 may not be the best quality, but it introduces the characters so it's a good place to start. After that you could jump to episode 16 if you wanted to hear us a bit more in the groove of things and that's when the big main story really gets started. Episode 11 could also be good as it's a flashback for 3/4 of our Vault Hunters.
Which have been your favourite episodes so far?
3 has one of my favorite bits from the whole series so far. 4 is silly fun with a very immature, but wonderful payoff. 8 & 32 we get to play with the lead designer of the game, Ian Moss. 11 we did zero planning and it is amazing. 12-13 is a fun 2 part story. 20 is a big crossover with Roleplay Rejects. 22 and 31 are darker episodes, which is cool. 23 has some great moments. 33 is another very silly episode. There's a lot of favorites!
Which episode are you most proud of?
Tough question! I'm proud of many, but if I had to pick just one... I think 16 or 17 because of the story things that happen there.
What is your vision for your show?
I have a pretty big season 1 plan, but when that ends I also have a few ideas for season 2. We love doing this show and will continue to grow it for a long time. We also plan on occasionally doing short arcs in other TTRPGs.
What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?
Riley here, the Bunker Master! Some of my favorites are Dungeons & Daddies, The Adventure Zone, Organised Fun, Board Game Hot Takes, How Not to DM, and many other actual plays. Kimmy enjoys things like Crime Junkies. Matt enjoys fun ones like TAZ and Hello From the Magic Tavern. Phil likes board game podcasts and My Dad Wrote a Porno. Kyle likes shows about Cryptids and conspiracy theories.
How did you come up with the name for your podcast?
I liked the flow of it, haha. I debated between Friend or Foe and Friend & Foe. Landed on & because no one else really had used that. I also thought it'd be a good name for an adventuring company that could send them out on quests.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I, Riley, am a nerd. I love watching TV shows, playing video games, board games, TTRPGs, painting miniatures, and hangin with folks.

it’s a blast! I really love the system they have for it. It lends itself to letting players do ridiculous things and being badasses!

If you are a fan of Science Fantasy, WOW is this the show for you! Listened to a few episodes now and the characters are immediately lovable, the world is rich as well as goofy, and the sound is great from the beginning (they remastered the early episodes and you wouldn't know if they didn't tell you). Also, you don't have to be a borderlands fan to like this show or the Bunkers & Badasses system, it just feels organic! Seriously well done and I can't wait to catch up!
