03: From Snout to Tail - The Whole Pig Saga
Richard sits down with friend and local farmer Alistair to talk about all things woodland pig. From creating the woodland paddocks, to feeding and the final loading and transportation of pigs and resulting meat. Raising pigs is a relatively new enterprise for Alistair and his wife Laura, so we wanted to get in early on asking how it had all gone after the first two groups.
Both Richard and Amy have been helping out with the whole process along the way and this discussion reflects that involvement....mostly in the form of tales about grumpy pigs, memories of rugby, and that one time when Richard was closer than he'd like to being eaten alive.
The guys also go into some detail about the woodland management reasons for housing the pigs in this part of the woods and plans for the future.
If you have any questions about the contents of this episode then send them to us or jump onto our forum and ask Alistair directly.
