Yep, you read that title right...
A positive skin and/or blood test does not necessarily mean a person has an allergy.
"But, why not?" you may be wondering.

How does an allergic reaction really work?
What topic would you like discussed? Text us!
Have you ever wondered what's really happening during an allergic reaction? What is really causing:
- Hives
- Swelling
- Trouble breathing
- Vomiting
- Low blood pressure
- High heart rate
This episode tells how allergy cells - specifically mast cells - send out their cannonballs (ahem, degranulate) to wreak the havoc that is anaphylaxis.
Visit Food Allergy and Your Kiddo to learn more about anaphylaxis and other food allergy issues!

How and why to organize your kiddo's food allergy test results
What topic would you like discussed? Text us!
Do you have a pile of your kiddo's food allergy information? Maybe you have thought about placing your kiddo's allergy test results into some sort of order - maybe organize all those pieces of paper in a binder? Or maybe you have the results available online, not exactly organized but somewhat in one place?
But it just doesn't seem quite organized, right?
We gain a better understanding of things when we write things out yourselves. So it makes sense that organizing your kiddo’s allergy test results can help you better grasp your kiddo’s disease process as you can clearly see:
- Initial reaction story
- Skin test results
- Blood test results
- Result interpretations and recommended plans by your allergist
- Ingestion challenge plans and outcomes
- Epinephrine auto-injector locations and expiration dates
When you put all this information together onto a page, it helps you visualize the clinical side of your kiddo's food allergy journey. It also allows you an easy way to make sure you and your allergist are on the same page (literally!).
In this episode of the podcast, Pam and I discuss a tool that I created especially to help families manage their kiddo's food allergy clinical information. You can access the Clinical Info Organizer here within the blog post that accompanies this podcast episode.
Enjoy this episode!
