Spencer, a Floridian since birth, has been fishing since he was a child and shares as much as he can during this 1 hour episode! He has spent countless hours on the beach and other areas and explains how he learned along the way. Through his journey, he has picked up a lot of knowledge through trial & error, but has also found documents about previous catches that have helped him while he is fishing. With all of his knowledge, he is sought to give clinics & seminars on fishing and has enjoyed doing each one. His recent seminar featured on YouTube with Chip "The Sinker Guy" Brundage gave a bunch of knowledge that I'd absolutely recommend checking out here. Don't miss out on this interview as he dropped even more nuggets for you to scoop up and put in your tackle box!

Years past, the local tackle shops were whispered to be the place to avoid as they would just over charge you for gear and wasn't the best place to find a deal for gear. Fast forward to now and it is far from that. The local shops are one of the best places to get knowledge and they have no intention of running up the till on what you're buying. Simon, the manager of Emerald Coast Bait & Tackle, gives us a glimpse into pricing and how some things work at the shop. He also gives us some comparison about fishing in Charleston, S.C. to here in the Panhandle since he arrived.

Mike Lorusso of ML Custom Rods & Reels talks to us about why he makes custom rods and upgrading reels. Originally from New York, Mike came down to South Florida and made his life. He started making rods for friends & family and soon realized that it was something that brought him significant happiness and he opened his own business. We talk through the making process and why a custom rod is more than just a couple of features, but many different things.
The audio in this recording unfortunately was a bit choppy but still listenable. I apologize in advance.

Allison "Reel Love" Stattner came and dropped bombs of knowledge on fishing, harvesting, and the programs she is heavily involved with to help everyone in the fishing world! What started out as fishing with her family in New Jersey, has evolved into a significant passion in south Florida. Along the way, she became heavily involved with FWC's Catch A Florida Memory program and teaches in many clinics. This episode is littered with knowledge of the program, how she fishes, her involvement with the International Women's Fishing Association (IFWA) on the board, and her most recent path with the Ike Jime Federation.

Be warned, the Ike Jime portion of the episode does have some graphic descriptions of dispatching a fish. What I thought was a way of proper dispatching, was much more than that. Allison really broke it down in here. If it is something you're interested in getting involved in, she has a discount code available to acquire the tools properly on their site and the code is REELLOVEFLIKEJIME

Podcast Q&A

Why did you start this show?

To help share knowledge in the Surf/Beach Fishing/Casting world. We have so much beach available and you can likely catch something in it!

What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?

Some knowledge to help them catch more fish! Especially if they are traveling somewhere new that they have never been before. Hopefully, you'll have picked up some tips & tricks, or a contact in that area that might be able to help you get on them!

Which episode should someone start with?

For Florida, the recent one with Noel Kuhn. That was packed with 20+ years of experience in an hour and a half show. I almost had to make it two.

Which have been your favourite episodes so far?

OH man.....this is extremely tough to choose one since they are all unique in their own way. Its a tie between Paul Vancelette and GoFish Australia. Both of those were a lot of fun.

Which episode are you most proud of?

Alaska Surf Fishing. I had to weed through some negativity to find the right person to talk with.

What is your vision for your show?

To cover the entire coastal USA with knowledge from experienced anglers. I hope to be a show that is a household name in the surf fishing industry.

What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?

Cancelled for Maintenance. I spent my younger years as a Marine Helicopter Mechanic but didn't want to do it in my civilian days. This show keeps that little part of my past still alive.

How did you come up with the name for your podcast?

I'm a bit of a Disneyhead. While that fish has an N, my last name starts with a D but sounds the same. It just came up one day as an idea and it just stuck. He did some serious travel while learning along the way, which is exactly what I'm doing.

Tell us a bit about yourself

Just a guy that loves to fish and share knowledge when he can. I am sorry that I am not nearly as interesting as you might think.
