#39 - The Ultimate Jiu-Jitsu Road Trip with Erica Zendell, Writer and BJJ Practitioner

Erica Zendell is a full-time traveler, writer, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) practitioner. This past April, Erica left a comfortable life of 9 years in Boston on an indefinite road trip to train, compete, and learn from the best in BJJ across the United States. In July, she quit her career in the tech industry to fully dedicate herself to living a story worth writing about for her first book.

Erica holds a BA in Comparative Literature from Princeton University and a MBA from MIT, but her hardest-earned "degree" to date is her Purple Belt in BJJ under John Clarke. She's competed in nearly 40 grappling tournaments since 2017, and her proudest titles are a Bronze Medal at the 2020 IBJJF Pan American Championship and a Gold Medal at the 2020 IBJJF World Masters Championship.

Her cross-country travel companions include her Subaru Forester, her significant other, and their miniature dachshund, Snickers.
