One Teenager At A Time (don't let the title fool you, this is not just for kids)

01/15/20 • 62 min

Energy Awareness Radio hosted by T Love
Is there really anything new in the area of stress management? Yes. Yes there is, and Kari O’Driscoll will share creative ways to overcome these challenges. Stress among teenagers is at an all-time high. While the book is geared toward teenagers, it’s a perfect fit for anyone from young children to adults. The approach Kari uses to foster mindfulness as a skill and an accessible daily practice is exceptional. Many therapists have successfully administered her techniques with both teen and adult clients, as well as their own children in order to heal dysfunctional communication patterns, remedy a ‘stuck mindset’, and boost overall self-confidence. Kari founded The SELF Project in 2015 to share her adolescent social-emotional health curriculum with educators and parents. Kari also writes on her personal blog at http://www.the-writing-life.blogspot.com and her work has appeared online in multiple outlets.

Master Your Code: The Art, Wisdom, and Science of Leading an Extraordinary Life

Are Your Beliefs Hijacking Your Life? The big idea: As human beings, we’re born with roughly 20,000 genes that fill every cell in our body. This genetic code makes us who we are and guides our behavior. From the moment we take our very first breath, we’re genetically hardwired to react, avoid risks, and stay safe. Or so we think. What if this is a myth? What if we’re not genetically determined? What if we can erase and replace our internal programming—and master our own code? The so-what: For more than 50 years, scientists operated under the largely untested assumption that our genes govern our behavior. But the emerging field of epigenetics has revealed a new truth: our genes don’t have full control of our lives. We do. The key message: Our behavior is driven by a subconscious program of our own making, one that’s a result of our environment. Throughout our lives, we accumulate thousands of beliefs, values, and rules that help us make sense of the world. They guide how we behave, but they also limit our results. Think of it as a computer program that runs your life. The good news? We can rewrite and author our code. Learn to rewrite your program and master your code in every aspect of your life, including your career, health, relationships, and even your financial success. Be extraordinary in any part of your life, including leadership, parenting, relationships, career, and health.
