EE 187: Jiu Jitsu Chronicles Pt 3 The Art of the Uke

In Episode 187 I sit down with my Ukes! What the fuck is an Uke? An uke is the partner I use while teaching jiu jitsu to show the technique. This may not sound like a special position but as someone who’s been teaching jiu jitsu for nearly a decade, I assure you it is! They have to be exceptionally well at technique themselves to give the perfect amount of pressure, resistance, base, and so on. They also must have a well-rounded game so they can be comfortable demonstrating techniques from all positions. It’s truly an under appreciated art and I’m blessed to have three exceptional ukes that are my regular go-to guys during class.
