Lisa Streich is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor that specializes in attachment. She is a facilitator for Circle of Security and she works with parents and partners to deepen safety and security in relationships. When John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth began theorizing about attachment styles it was thought that by 2 years old your attachment style was already determined and you were set for life. Good or bad. Deal with it. As new research has emerged, we have learned that you can change your attachment style. It takes work but it is not impossible. Tune in to hear what Lisa has to say as she explains the research on all things attachment. There were so many take aways for me, I truly hope you learn something and enjoy.

After learning what triangulation is, we will get into the meat of the dress story. What video am I talking about, the background of how it all started and finally, my response to all of it. Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown was the inspiration behind this episode.

The Shade Room article mentioned in the episode can be found here.

Emerging Motherhood - It Takes A Village...

It Takes A Village...

So its been a minute! Like any proper lady I don't wanna justjump right into things, lets warm up a little. Get to know each other better, have an appetizer of sorts! In this episode we catch up a little but mostly tell the outrageous story of Burt Pugach and Linda Riss. They were the focus of the 2007 documentary Crazy Love directed by Dan Klores. Watching this documentary always annoyed me because everyone involved, even Linda herself made such light of the situation. I couldn't understand how she could love this man after what he did to her. But after really paying attention to the details and the words from Linda herself it sounds more like a story of a woman with no village. Linda died a prisoner and a warden. It is a wild story that is truly stranger than fiction, I wish I was making this one up.

Thank you for the patience during the hiatus! More episodes to come, please stay tuned!!

Emerging Motherhood - Farm House Fraud: How It All Ends
play

08/16/24 • 27 min

In this episode, we explore the surprising similarities between the Plath family from Welcome to Plathville and the Ballerina Farm brand of the Neeleman family. No matter how strict or "perfect" their upbringing, kids still end up making their own choices. We also dive deeper into the men who push for these traditional family roles, uncovering the darker motives behind their desire for control. When it all falls apart, it's the moms left to pick up the pieces—after years of dedication, they’re often left on their own, with no one coming to their defense.

In this episode of the Emerging Motherhood Podcast, I delve deep into the world of Ballerina Farm. Known for giving up a Juilliard education to embrace life on a farm and raise 8 children, Hannah Neelman has become a focal point in the growing "trad wife" trend, where traditional roles and aesthetics are romanticized on social media.

Recently featured in a critical article, Ballerina Farm has faced its share of scrutiny. As a former "trad wife" who has exposed the often harsh realities behind the facade, I break down the criticisms aimed at Ballerina Farm. Drawing from my interview with People Magazine, I uncover the truths behind the curated images that captivate so many.

Join me for this revealing episode that goes beyond the surface to explore the complexities of the trad wife movement and its impact on women today.
