Emergency Medical 101

Send us a text

Have you suffered from PTSD? Its important in healthcare that we learn about our mental health and treat it before we become patients ourselves. We try to be the strongest person in the room and because of that, we suffer in silence. WAKE UP! Your health is the most important thing in this field because without you; our parents, our children, and our friends would not have access to the best care. Ask yourself a few questions like:
Do you know the resources in your community?
Can you recognize PTSD in yourself and coworkers?
What can I do better for myself?
How do I talk with others about my health?
Do I have a person to confide in?

SUGAR, SUGAR, SUGAR!

Send us a text

Let's talk about sugar! All the things about diabetes and diabetic related conditions that arise in emergency medicine frequently that we do not do a great job of explaining or understanding fully. Some things we talk about include:
-Hypoglycemia
-Hyperglycemia
-DKA
-HHS
Why is it important to talk about more? Being one of the most common diseases (Diabetes), we have to make sure that we are up to date on information and refresh regularly. I hope everyone takes something home from this episode and learn something. Remember, sugar is great until it’s not!

Understanding the Heart Part. 1

Send us a text

Its important as providers that we understand the heart and how it pumps our blood throughout the body. This episode talks about the mechanical function of the heart and school for thought on assessing these patients. With a growing population of cardiac patients, our goal is to figure out how we can provide the best care for these patients. The first step is always by learning. The more we know, the more we will be able to help our patients in a time of need. P.S. sorry for being sick.
