So they are back, after a short break to recharge the podcast batteries Drew and Sam return with a brand new season, and, if the boys are to be believed, it promises to be a changed and freshened one!
Along with the familiar chat, the entertaining on location segments, the multitude of highly talented guests, and all the much loved content that continues to make Drewling Samantics what it is, this season’s episodes will also feature some new elements like current news from the industry, more listener and follower input, and even a revamp of the social media artwork - in fact, Drew and Sam have taken on a bit of an image change themselves!
This, the premier episode of Season Six, brings a mixture of good, interesting and sad news as the chaps follow up on the industry happenings of recent weeks. They also get into discussions regarding some areas that are affecting them professionally and have wider implications for other performers. Sound intriguing? So now they’ve finally reached the last episode of Season Five, it’s time for Drew and Sam to bow out with a compilation of their favourite moments and stories from the last fifteen weeks.
This season has seen them out and about and on the road, visiting new places and old haunts, recording in studios, on sofas, and of course in Sam’s flat too, and all these venues have allowed them to bring another fabulous collection of DrewlingSamantics episodes to listeners - both regular and new. With shows and screenings, location reports, and the usual chats and stories (not forgetting the friendly banter which is always thrown in for good measure!) it has been a varied and fun season for this podcasting pair.
And now it’s over to us, to experience a selection of the bits Drew and Sam particularly enjoyed and wanted to share again. If there’re any moment that you specifically loved that haven’t been included then do feel free to get in contact with the boys, as well as sending in the usual suggestions and comments which are always welcomed and valued. For the first guest of Season Six Drew and Sam are lucky enough to be joined by the very gifted and incredibly funny Callum Donnelly. A quick glance at his credentials proves he is more than qualified to talk comedy, and he’s even a familiar face to long-time Drewling Samantics fans, having appeared briefly on the special pantomime episode in Season Three.
With a Masters in comedy and many years of experience in the theatre, Callum is proof that getting laughs is a serious business. Whether working solo or collaborating with other performers, his success on stage and screen has allowed him to branch out and take on various other connected roles in the entertainment sector including writing and teaching, and he even works closely with Canterbury’s Marlowe theatre and the RSC, taking Shakespeare into schools and to the wider community, as both a director and mentor.
If that wasn’t enough to keep him busy, he runs an events company taking cinema to rural communities, further showing he is a true advocate of getting the arts to the people. Callum is hugely inspiring, extremely funny, and most of all is a superb guest and a brilliant way for Drew and Sam to kick off the guest list for this brand new season!
