Title: Addiction, Procrastination, and Laziness Subtitle: A Proactive Guide to the Psychology of Motivation Author: Roman Gelperin Narrator: Paul Brion Format: Unabridged Length: 4 hrs and 3 mins Language: English Release date: 01-19-18 Publisher: Roman Gelperin Genres: Science & Technology, Psychology & The Mind Publisher's Summary: Learn to take control of your life through an in-depth understanding of motivation What is motivation? Why do we feel totally paralyzed to do certain things, and utterly unable to quit others? Too many people conclude, falsely, that they are just lazy or lacking in willpower. But what they lack is a correct understanding of their own minds, of motivation, and the way that it operates. This audiobook is a self-help manual and a rigorous analysis of the psychology of motivation. It will teach you to stop procrastinating, kick your addictions, circumvent laziness, take control of your actions, and achieve your goals, by thoroughly understanding the way your mind works. In it, youll learn: Youll also learn 15 powerful strategies for motivating yourself, why they work, and how to apply them to your own life. By the end of this audiobook, youll possess all the tools you need to take firm control of your daily existence. Members Reviews: Still Working On It, But This Helps I liked the book, and although I am not entirely sure yet that it will work for me, it gave me some insight as to what goes on with addiction, procrastination and laziness. I was addicted to cigarettes for 13 years and gave them up 40 years ago. On the third try, I was finally successful using a similar program to this with a slow reduction of nicotine. Going 'cold turkey' has never worked for me, but slow change has. Today, I battle with overweight and lack of motivation from too many years of diet failure. I have some other bad habits, like staying up late, and knowing that it is bad just doesn't help me stop doing it. I have a lot of interests in life and I feel the pull of them distracting me from my goals all of the time. What this book did for me was that it helped me to see how the pleasurable things I enjoy were pulling me away from those goals, and the unpleasant things required for accomplishing my goals were so unpleasant in my mind that they were keeping me from doing them. So, I made a list of my goals and a list of the 14 psychological weapons and strategies in this book, and I applied each one to the 4 goals I listed. While I'm finding that I am making progress on the 1st goal, the last 3 haven't gone so well yet, and that being because my goals and life, in general, are very time consuming. I thought I would divide my time up each day into 4 time slots for the 4 goals, but it never seems to work out. However, being able to look over each of the 14 strategies before I start working on one of the goals seems to be helpful. I thought that maybe I'll have to work on only one goal until I've mastered it or formed a new habit. When I quit smoking, I was entirely focused on that one problem, how much I hated it, and had to get rid of it. The problem with diet and exercise is that it takes up even more of my time to focus on and is complicated by arthritis, now that I'm older. I also run out of gas sooner than I did when I was young. Focusing on just one thing makes everything else in my life (like my housework) fall apart, so the problem now becomes a matter of balance. Now, I've given myself a 5th goal, that of having balance in my life. Yeah, I really needed this book.

Title: The Mood Cure Subtitle: The 4-Step Program to Take Charge of Your Emotions - Today Author: Julia Ross Narrator: Coleen Marlo Format: Unabridged Length: 10 hrs and 38 mins Language: English Release date: 12-31-11 Publisher: Tantor Audio Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 91 votes Genres: Science & Technology, Psychology & The Mind Publisher's Summary: We're in a bad mood epidemic, but Julia Ross shows you how to rediscover your emotional well-being naturally. Critic Reviews: "Julia Ross's work on mood is right on target. The Mood Cure is a remarkably comprehensive guide to improving and maintaining a more positive and joyous frame of mind." (Christiane Northrup, M.D., author of Women's Bodies) Members Reviews: Very informative, no pdf's This audio was very informative, gave very specific directions on balancing and uplifting your moods, using herbal supplements. I did find I didn't want the audio to end, because of the interesting data, studies and information given. If you are looking for ways to be happier without prescriptions, sleep better, have more energy during the day, this audio has some very interesting findings. When taking the questionnaire, which is found on the moodcure website, I found I fit into many different categories. Does this mean I need about 10 different supplements? A lot of talk of Amino Acids, 5-htp, Sam-e and there affect on your body and who specifically, based on how a bottle makes you feel, which is individually better for you based on your body chemistry. Her voice is pleasant, an easy listen. The reason I did not give this audio 5 stars, is because there are no accompanying PDF's, the audio is not broken into chapters on my audible player, I have no idea where to go back and re-listen, especially after taking the moodcure questionnaire and now need to see what supplements to use. There are so many supplements, tips and advice, I just knew there would be a pdf. It is interesting enough to consider owning the book for reference and for need, because driving I found myself constantly needing to write things down. Again a 10 hour audio book and I will need to re-listen to get the supplements correct. Please forgive my first audible review. Astoundingly Life Changing Where does The Mood Cure rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far? #1. This book changed my life in only TWO DAYS! From then on it has just got better and better. I feel alive again. 5 long years of feeling lethargic, moody, out of control and constantly crying for no reason ! I could feel the real me inside but I felt like I just couldnt lift off what was ailing me? I was determined to find the cause and here it is, contained in this book. If you are having problems with anxiety, anger, depression, stress or anything mood related don't just put it down to "oh thats just the way I am" or "its because of...." It could very well be just a chemical imbalance in your brain that can be fixed with supplements and some simple diet changes and Dr Ross helps you every step of the way. The supplements themselves are miraculous in restoring your moods making life happiness. So get busy and READ THIS BOOK ! What did you like best about this story? It is very reader friendly.
