Exact Buyer
03/25/22 • 44 min
In this episode, I talk to Edan Krolewicz, founder of ExactBuyer. ExactBuyer helps you find the exact people you should be talking to and gives the information you need to reach out to those people in a reliable way.
Edan shares how he functions best, his company’s vision, and how they are different from the other tools that are already out there. He shares the importance of diving deeper into different industries and getting into where exactly you should be.
In this episode, we discussed:
- What ExactBuyer does to successfully help businesses.
- What excites Edan about macro-level problems.
- The difficulties of getting good at different prospecting tools.
- How they figure out the filters they use and the importance of going deeper into the differences and needs of customers.
- The importance of branding and building trust.
- Helping the people understand the business at large.
As Edan shares his goal to stand out in a marketplace that has a lot of bad players, we discuss the following things to help him achieve that goal:
- It all comes down to branding and being someone that people can trust.
- When you’re a young company, your brand is the relationships that you’ve made in your career so far. As you get older and as your company matures, then it’s not just your brand but it’s your brand and the people that work in your company.
- Doing market maps to find the right answers for your market analysis.
- Building and growing a community helps drive the direction of the company.
- It’s one thing to know what to do, but timing is as important.

We cover what it takes to build a sustainable business. The good, the bad, and the ugly; it's all in there. I really think there's something for everyone so take a listen and learn something new.

Meaningly
In this episode, I interviewed Jonathan Tallman, the CEO, and Co-founder of Meaningly. Jonathan has been practicing product management for so many years. He has a degree in English Language and Literature and right now, he is working in the world of computer visual language.
Jonathan walks us through his experiences working with Meaningly and some of the most important lessons he learned through this journey.
In this episode, we discussed:
1. About Meaningly, Inc., their starting point, and their core team.
2. The lessons he learned from his previous experiences in his career.
3. The importance of letting the sales experts do their job.
4. His journey with Meaningly.
5. Meaningly's ideal customers for each of their products.
6. How they identify the ad campaigns that will perform well.
With where they are in business today, there are limits to the activities that they can generate and we came up with the following extra steps that they can do to bring them to the next level for sales:
1. As you hire an STR, bring in someone very good at what they do and can work independently.
2. Establish a digital footprint.
a.) Try to see if you can leverage some alternative ad platforms.
b.) When you start getting customers, collect reviews from them on public platforms.
c.) Put yourself out there. (e.g. going to or starting podcasts)

Gated
In this episode, we interviewed Melissa Moody, the CMO of Gated. Gated is a technology solution that helps professionals get only the most relevant e-mails in their inboxes. It started with the founder’s problem with being bombarded by irrelevant sales e-mails. He later thought the solution he found can also be terribly valuable for everyone.
Melissa shares how they continuously shift the way people communicate at Gated. They believe that the way to win in today’s world, where more and more AIs are being developed to make content and play the algorithm game to reach people, is to bring value that aligns with human needs.
In this episode, we discussed:
- What Gated is and what it does for businesses and professionals.
- The concept of Challenge E-mails and Allowed List.
- Recommendations for senders to stand out and give value.
- Future plans and long-term goals for Gated.
- The importance of putting human needs in your content.
Michelle talks about the challenge of having a clear brand voice and nailing the messaging around what they are and what they do. We came up with the following things they can do next to solve this challenge:
- Setting up a private Facebook group where people can give their insights and also recommend people who might also need Gated.
- Create a program and mentor people on building in public where Gated can be the solution to better manage what they’re building.
