Hello, I’m Lachlan Rutherford and I’m Jacinta Dietrich and we are delighted to announce that in 2023 we will be launching Differently Brained, the podcast where no brain is the same.
Differently Brained is an own voices podcast where each fortnight we interview a neurodivergent guest or a guest who has lived experience with mental health challenges.
We talk to a diverse range of people with a focus on telling individual stories and championing the different ways we all exist in the world.
We hope that these discussions will help to break down the stigmas and misconceptions around neurodivergence and mental health, and normalise these conversations in our community.
At this point, you’re probably wondering who we are, and fair enough.
Lachlan Rutherford is a writer and editor who lives on Bundjalung country (Lismore, Northern NSW). Lachlan is a master of the brain, with years of mental health highs and lows. His official diagnosis is bipolar disorder, trichotillomania and generalised anxiety - a spicy mix to keep him on his toes.
Jacinta Dietrich is a writer and editor who lives on Wurundjeri country in Naarm (Melbourne, Victoria). Jacinta is a wizard with the letters in more ways than one - she is autistic with ADHD for a bit of extra flavour. She also has a family history of suicidality, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
We have a cracker season lined up for you in 2023 with so many exciting guests and conversations we can’t wait to share with you.
In our regular interviews we chat all things autism, ADHD, anxiety, bipolar, binge eating, depression, suicidality and so so much more. We will also drop bonus episode across the season on topics we feel deserve a deep dive episode all of their own (Jacinta really just wants an excuse to have a Heartbreak High review episode).
We are also lucky enough to have some amazing giveaways coming up that you’ll definitely want to be around for.
We have a lot of hopes for Differently Brained, but our main hopes are that if the content speaks to you, we hope that you feel seen, represented and maybe less alone or different.
And for those of you that may not be able to relate to the content, we hope it widens your understanding and awareness and helps you better support those in your life who may want to have these conversations themselves.
If you like the sound of Differently Brained, please subscribe to the show so you can get it in your ears the minute we drop and even leave a review telling us what you are most looking forward to.
If you want to get in touch with us, we are always keen to hear from listeners, potential guests and future podcast sponsors. You can reach us at our email [email protected] or our Instagram handle is @differentlybrainedpodcast.
We are so excited to bring this project to you in 2023 and hope you love it as much as we do.
