The best podcasts to learn about neurodiversity from neurodivergent people!

Who am I?

I'm the neurodivergent host of Beyond 6 Seconds, a podcast about neurodiversity! When I'm not fully immersed in podcasting, I am working full-time as an Instructional Designer of training programs, singing a cappella, or watching game shows. In my mid-40s, I found out that I'm autistic. As I started to make sense of what that meant for me and my life, I wanted to learn more about the real-life experiences of autistic and other neurodivergent people. So much of what I knew about neurodiversity came from media, textbooks, and other sources that talked "about" neurodivergent people, without including their voices in the conversation ... and I soon realized I had a lot of misconceptions and stereotypes to unravel! As I educated myself about neurodivergence, I decided to use my podcast to amplify neurodivergent voices as well. In the spirit of the disability movement's rallying call "nothing about us without us," this list features conversations about neurodiversity led by neurodivergent people.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

Beyond 6 Seconds is a multi award winning podcast that features extraordinary stories from neurodivergent people -- entrepreneurs, creators, advocates & more -- that shatter misconceptions, break stigma and showcase the vibrance and diversity of this community. I interview people who are autistic, dyslexic, dyspraxic, have ADHD, Tourette’s syndrome, Down syndrome and more about their lives – the triumphs, the struggles, and the change they are driving in the world. My guests and I also discuss intersections between neurodivergence and race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, co-occurring disabilities, and more.
