What happens when two brits sit down over a cup of tea and some digestive biscuits to talk cars? Well .... I spent over two hours talking cars with Peter Gleeson. Peter is a well known (and loved) Seattle car collector. His collection mainly focuses on BMW Motorsport - the best road car and race car but to me it's a lot more than that!
This is part one of a two-part episode and we talk about the significance of motorsport for BMW in the 70s, where his love for cars came from and some of the pearls in his fantastic collection.
There are a number of cars in his collection BMW would love to own!
I feel very lucky to know Peter and am so grateful for his time, enjoy!

I catch up with friend and fellow podcaster John Dyste. John has one of the coolest jobs in the car world selling Porsches at Porsche Colorado Springs. We explore how a chance visit on a weekend set his car career in motion. Along for the ride was John's son Lewis who aged 10 knows more about cars than most adults! Bonus episode coming soon with Lewis!
John Dyste, the Sales Guy at Porsche Colorado Springs and the co-host of First Dibs podcast. John dishes out his journey from childhood car enthusiast to becoming an authority in the field, with pit stops at city planning at Cornell and engineering at the University of Minnesota. His unexpected detour into bartending is a testament to life's unpredictability, while also adding a dash of humor to his narrative.
Fuel your fascination for luxury cars as we throttle through the lanes of Porsche models and car dealership stories with John. The hybrid Porsche 911 and the classic 1974 Porsche G-Series Outlaw are just some models that we peel back the layers on. John's anecdotes about the Pike's Peak Hill Climb, America's second oldest race, and amusing dealership tales - including a test drive catastrophe and a peculiar barter involving Tiffany lamps - guarantee a ride full of laughs and surprises.
Finally, we shift gears to discuss the exhilarating world of car enthusiasts. John shares his insights on the ongoing stick versus auto debate, his top choices for driving roads and track, and his favorite movie car. The conversation takes a philosophical turn as we talk about the joy of sharing one's passion and being a part of the automotive world. This episode is a tribute to all the car enthusiasts out there and a reminder of the importance of following one's passion. Tune in for a joyride with John Dyste through the fascinating world of Porsche!

You don't get a nick name like Hot Rod Bob without a few stories. Bob Beck is a Californian car guy who's followed his passion his whole life. When people have said to him "you can't do that!" his response has been "just watch me!"
He's pretty much done it all in the car world; built and modified cars, worked for BMW and Nissan, written about cars and even raced them. He's hosted a TV show, been a journalist for various magazines and event been a commentator following in the footsteps of his heroes!
This episode is a first for Danny P on Cars! It's the first time I've worked with a guest I didn't know! My thanks to Bob for his time and for sharing his story with me!
For each episode I try to work with the guest to understand who their favorite artists are.

Chances are that if you're in the Seattle car community you know Matt Adair, but you may not know his story! Matt is a regular at events and the track. He's worked with cars all his life; be that selling them, writing about them or wrenching on them for endurance racing. He got involved with off road racing and was an early contributor to an event many call the "Burning Man" for Off Road Racing.
I sat down with Matt at Dobson Stuttgart (Check out my episode with Dominic Dobson) to talk about all of this as well as a lot more!
My thanks go out to Matt for his time!
With the majority of songs on the podcast, I work with the guest to select one of their favorite artists.

Ambassadors of Car Culture—Ryan, Jorge, and yours truly are back for part 2, the results! In part 1 we had $150k to buy three cars on Bring a Trailer, our objective to make as much money between the time we found the cars and what they actually sound for.
This is an after hours episode that is a little more edgy than normal. Who won? Who is Samantha Fountain and who was the smartest with their car buying?
There was one clear winner, two losers and the wager of some Omaha Steaks to settle on!
Sit down, tune in and enjoy!
Wrapping up the episode, we extend our heartfelt holiday wishes, recommend some fantastic podcasts, and promise to return next year with more riveting car discussions. So buckle up and join us for an episode packed with insights, surprises, and hearty laughs.

Monterey Car Week is a ten day celebration of everything automotive! It takes place every year in California during the month of August.
For those that have not attended it can be a bit of a daunting experience, how do you plan for the week when there are so many different events taking place?
I decided to create a three part mini series to help provide a roadmap for the event.
I've been 4 times but would call myself an expert so I decided to enlist the help of Jim Lynch. Jim has attended the event 12 times and produces a PDF guide every year. If you want to download a copy of the guide you can do so here:
https://bit.ly/JimsCarWeekGuide (you may have to join the Facebook Group).
Or email me using the details below and I'd be happy to email you a copy.
I also invited friend of the podcast Ryan Bahrke as someone who has never attended car week. Ryan provides us with the questions we hadn't thought of asking. For those that don't know Ryan he is one half of The Steering Committee Podcast.
Part One Covers:

  • Why you might want to attend
  • Who attends car week
  • How to think about the event in terms of tracks
  • How to do car week on a budget
  • A breakdown of the first weekend of car week - Friday Aug 11th to Monday Aug 14th inclusive.

My thanks to Jim and Ryan for joining me to create these episodes!
Buckle up for this comprehensive guide to Car Week!
