Danica Patrick Pretty Intense Podcast

Today's show is with the very strong, very confident, and very determined and wonderful Melissa Hartwig Urban. I found out about Melissa way back when I started CrossFit. Paleo is a diet who very oriented to the CrossFit world. And then there's a little subset within paleo called Whole30. And I don't think that Melissa meant to do it like that. But it's got a lot of foundational similarities to paleo with certain foods that you are encouraged to eat more and ones that you aren't Melissa talked about the birth of Whole30 and what that looked like and the struggles that she's had as a person and the places that she's grown. And we talked about her love for hiking. She calls it her church. I also learned a lot about food and why we eat the way we do. The Whole 30 program is something I'm passionate about. I really believe that we need to develop a a positive relationship with food and stop looking at healthy food as a punishment and cake as a reward. There’s something fundamentally wrong with that.. Melissa also has a new book coming out, “Whole30 Friends and Family”. So please pick that up as I'm sure it has plenty of amazing recipes for, of course, your friends and family. Enjoy

undefined - Trevor Hall

Trevor Hall

Today on the show we have my absolute favorite artist, Trevor Hall. My friend Stacey turned me on to his music years ago, and I remember when she asked for it to be put on and I was listening to country or something like that. And she was like, “Do you mind if I put some of my music on?” I was like, “OK....” But I'm a little protective of the music. And she put it on, and I never turned it off. Trevor is a fantastic artist. He has a lot of heart, a lot of soul. He writes it all himself. He just has a really cool story. His dad is a tennis pro that sells real estate. And the first time I met his dad, he had a polo on tucked into his jeans with a belt. He is the classic all-American looking guy. And then there's Trevor, who's, tattoos and, definitely much more laid-back kind of hippie vibe. And he's an artist and he's singing about spirituality. Look, I want to know how the hell that guy turns into that guy? Like, how did that happen in his family? So, we talked about that. We talked about travel. We talked about how music impacts him. And we talked about personal growth and how we can expand as human beings into a space that's not only better for others, but ultimately better for ourselves. So please enjoy.

Gloria Steinem

Wow... Gloria Steinem. An 85 year-old Icon. She's a writer. But she says she has a hard time pinning down exactly what her job is. She’s a writer. She's a feminist. She is a part of movements. And my goodness, she has some interesting and sometimes very simple perspectives on life. I think we all want an answer, and the simple answer is not the one we want. But Gloria says that sometimes simple is what the truth is. And I'm not going to argue with someone who's 85 years-old! She has a hell of a lot more experience than I do. So, look, we talked about life. We talked about what's important. And we talked about what the point of it all is. And I hope that you find this just as refreshing as I did.
