About Essence:

Essence Florie Jasperse is a professional teacher, dancer, and choreographer from Thousand Oaks, California. Essence graduated from California Lutheran University (CLU) in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine. With a strong passion for teaching dance, Essence decided to pursue a career in education. In 2015, she obtained her teaching credential in Physical Education from CLU, followed by a Master's degree in Education, with an emphasis on Teacher Leadership.

Essence has extensive training in multiple styles of dance including ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and heels, and has been teaching dance for 14 years. Additionally, she has trained and choreographed for many promising dancers and upcoming recording artists in the Los Angeles area, including Evan Craft, Djoir Jordan, and Juliet Piper.

Essence has performed and choreographed for a number of artists around the world including the Ciclovida Tour with Evan Craft in South America and the Name On It Tour with Djoir Jordan in the Middle East. Currently, she is dancing for The Hubbard Collective by Irishia Hubbard and The Vixens by David Slaney. Finally, Essence is passionate about helping dancers meet their goals and fulfill their greatest potential both in dance and in life off the dance floor.

About Ally:

Ally Vega is a 2nd generation Filipina American choreographer, movement educator, and performer based in Los Angeles, CA. She’s worked with various Asian American talent such as Guy Tang, Bohan Phoenix, Nitemrkt, and Gingee and has been featured on Buzzfeed and NBC Asian America to showcase narratives around the immigrant experience.

She’s also choreographed for the musical comedy, Supportive White Parents, that debuted at Second City Hollywood. Nowadays, she spends her time directing her dance company Ancestral Vision Movement, a company that fuses traditional Filipino dances with hip hop and other contemporary forms of movement.
