🎙E17 - From mined diamonds to lab grown diamonds
On this episode and due to popular demand I dive further into the world of these precious stones. I'll explain further the concept and rise of conflict diamonds (or blood diamonds) and how they have been defined, talk to you about the Kimberley process and it's shortcomings. We will then focus on how Silicon Valley is disrupting yet another traditional market (such as it did with the taxi industry and Uber/Lyft and the hotel industry with Airbnb). I'll take the time to explain the benefits of lab grown diamonds in contrast with the negative side of the mining industry. Finally i'll share my experience specifically with Vrai & Oro - one of the innovators in this space.

🎙E19 - Having opinions & a Brexit debrief
Welcome back to the daily tech start where I share my experience working at a tech startup and the lessons I learn along the way. I’m Toni and this is episode 19. Having opinions is scary - this statement has stuck with me for the better part of this weekend. Specifically because I recently decided to re-watch the TV series - The Newsroom written by Aaron Sorkin. The main character decides to stop pleasing everyone by not bothering anyone with opinions and to start "doing the news". This stuck with me because I often hide behind facts and facilitation to avoid voicing my opinions. Why does this matter to me know? Tune in to find out what I marched for this Saturday 23rd June.
