#41- An Episode for the Frustrated Creative- It Can Take a Long Time to Sound Like Yourself
10/21/21 • 9 min
“Man, sometimes it takes a long time to sound like yourself.” -Miles Davis
We talk about finding our creative voice all the time. But Miles Davis, an icon, offering up this news flash that nobody escapes that period of the in-between...
That space inside of what we want to create and what we actually have developed the skills in order to fulfill that expectation. It can take years of hard work to close that gap. How do we keep moving and what do we do in order to remain inspired and focused?
Whether you're new to your creative endeavor or a seasoned pro, you have already or are just beginning to experience this. It's the great truth of creating. Join me as we discuss.

#40- The 4 Agreements for Creatives
Today we're going to talk about 4 steps you can take in your life (today) in order to simplify and enhance your creative life and career. Often, it's the simplest of ideas that are the most overlooked. However, they're also usually the most powerful in the way of transformation and change.
Come with me as we review this gem of an idea that was introduced over 20 years ago...and still plays an integral part in the way that I attempt to avoid negativity, self doubt, and creative paralyzation. These agreements are a gift and I'm excited to dissect them with you.

#42- The Key to Really Living with Rebecca Annie Rose Williams (Wovenlight Journal)
"If you can accept that your life will one day end, then you're more likely to fill it with the things that spark enjoyment. The things that make you happy." -Rebecca Annie Rose Williams
The pursuit of simple pleasures is something that I *try* to embrace in some way every day. Inspired by Rebecca, I believe it's the actual key to L-I-V-I-N-G.
If you've never heard of this beautiful soul, this episode will be my gift to you. Known as "Wovenlight Journal" on social media, Rebecca was a creative of many colors. The ultimate in staying curious in every way. She seemed to soak up every moment of life in order to get her hands dirty, make things, seek joy, and swim in the sea. To love her friends and family and spread her magic wherever she went.
Rebecca's body may have left this world, but her unforgettable existence is made up of fragments of beauty that she left behind for us to admire and learn from for many years to come. If nothing else, I hope this will spark a few thoughts for you to seek out and enjoy the pursuit of simple pleasures in your own life.
