It would take over four decades for law enforcement to crack the case in 2019. When they did, they would be left to follow the trail of a suspected serial killer.

Within six months, Two local men, Karl Fontenot and Tommy Ward would confess to her murder. There was no physical evidence, confusing witness identifications and the two men's confessions did not align. Both Karl and Tommy were sentenced to death.
