In the first part of this 2 part episode, Monica and Nick discuss the life and tragic death of Phoebe Handsjuk. On a warm summer evening in 2010 a concierge working at a high rise luxury apartment building in Melbourne, Australia is looking for a broom when she makes a grizzly discovery. A stunning young woman is found dead in a pool of blood inside a garbage compactor room, her right foot almost completely severed. Her death was ruled an accident and no further investigation was done. Poor police work, among other things, lead to losing critical evidence that could have helped solve the mystery of this tragic death.

Episode 11: The Mothman of Point Pleasant

This week, Monica and Nick discuss the legend of the Mothman. In November of 1966 the people of Point Pleasant, West Virginia began to see a huge, winged man-like apparition with glowing red eyes. The entity chased cars and stared through windows, terrifying 100 or so adult members of the community over the course of a year. Mysterious grinning strangers began appearing all over the town, interrogating citizens and taking pictures of them. The strange events only came to an end when the Silver Bridge, a 700 foot suspension bridge that linked West Virginia to Ohio, collapsed just days before Christmas in 1967, leading us to speculate whether the appearance of these strange beings had anything to do with it.

In 2010, a 24 year old Australian woman is found dead in a pool of her own blood on the floor of the trash compactor room in the luxury apartment building where she lived. Her distraught boyfriend tells police over and over that she was depressed and suicidal and that he knew she was going to do something like this. But the evidence isn’t adding up. Could this be a gruesome murder made to look like suicide?
