S1 Ep11: Using the Methodkit for measuring social impact
09/27/20 • 36 min
In this episode, Evelina and Malin share how they use their Methodkit for Sustainable Organisations to help organisations measure their social and environmental impact.
Methodkit for Sustainable Organisations, is a deck of cards, each representing a different perspective that’s important to bring to the discussion of sustainability or social impact.
Evelina and Malin share how we all naturally come to problems and solutions with 3-4 key perspectives that are intrinsically important or of most interest to us, but we then miss out on so many other equally important perspectives that need to be considered for sustainable development.
What we discuss in this episode:
- What Methodkit actually is
- The importance of bringing different perspectives for sustainable development
- Other ways Evelina and Malin are using Methodkit to help sustainable organisations, for example planning workshops and webinars
- How you can use Methodkit to measure your social impact, including the questions to ask yourself when using the cards
- What “materiality analysis” is
- What else they’ve got coming up to help sustainable organisations implement Methodkit
Evelina and Malin work through their business Circulous and The Good Tribe, respectively, advising and facilitating ideation for action towards a sustainable future today.

S1 Ep10: Social Value in Corporates with Danielle Aberg
There's a huge opportunity for social enterprises to sell to corporates which is not being tapped into. Danielle Aberg is problem solver and thought innovator extraordinaire, with a sense of humour, and a passion for diversity & inclusion whilst helping individuals and businesses think outside the box.
She is the Founder of CSRCo. a social value consultancy that helps businesses add value within their workforce, supply chain and the wider community. Dani predominantly works with corporates, often designing and delivering programmes that deliver social value. With a background in youth and community development Dani has a knack for bringing together businesses with community in a way that is mutually beneficial and sustainable.
And that's why I invited her on to the podcast. I am super passionate about helping more social enterprises realise the opportunities for working with (and selling to) corporates (and not asking for sponsorship). Dani shares incredible insights in to how she believes this can be done.
What we covered in this episode:
- From a background in youth and community work, Dani shares how she built her business after seeing a gap in the support corporates and SMEs needed to deliver the social value required for public sector contracts.
- Why Dani feels its essential for businesses to build in corporates social responsibility and social value in to the core of their business and it not just being an add on
- The CareerChangers - Women in to Construction project as an example of the types of work corporates are increasingly looking for social enterprises to support them with
- The opportunities available for social enterprises to work with corporates
- Dani’s top tips for securing work with corporates as a social enterprise
- The three pillars of social value
- How you can add value when working with corporate partners
- How being authentic and the networker helps build your brand as the person to go to

S1 Ep12: Why measuring your social impact matters as a social entrepreneur
When I started as a social entrepreneur I used to think measuring your social impact was something that could be done later on, at the end of the year or programme we were delivering. But then I realised not having our social impact data meant we couldn't communicate the difference we made to our stakeholders and customers.
I also realised it's quite difficult to "go back" and evaluate, review and collect data in retrospect and much easier to build impact measurement in to your operations as you go.
Measuring your social impact should be part of your normal operations; it doesn't have to be overly complex and it isn't a nice to have - it is essential.
Your social impact is often closely linked to WHY you exist as a business, so if you're not able to demonstrate the change your creating people will wonder what you're doing and why you're doing it.
In this episode I share why measuring your impact matters and key things for you to think about no matter where in your journey you are.
