Protect ya neck! Trademark and Copyright Q&A with Nicole Swartz of Sprout Law

Cracked with Chevonne Ariss

Ep. 14 - As an artist, there’s so much mystery around copyright and trademarking your designs and it can all feel very overwhelming, so today I’m talking to a lawyer who specializes in exactly this. Her name is Nicole Swartz and she’s going to clear up some of the misconceptions out there and answer your questions. I won’t be making a habit of having guests that aren’t stained glass artists but I really am seeing and hearing this topic everywhere lately and so this episode is a TIME OUT, everyone set down your tools, and LISTEN.

In fact, if you only listen to only 1 episode of Cracked, THIS SHOULD BE THE ONE. I also encourage you to forward this episode to any of your maker friends who don’t do glass because 99% of this information is applicable to their work as well.

My wish for each and every one of you is that you never find yourself in a copyright pickle, and after hearing this episode you will have some tools to avoid the headache of a design fight. I actually intended to release this episode much later in the season but after recording it I decided it’s just too valuable to keep to myself, I needed to release it as soon as possible.

So without further ado...
